If we stay up , Durham will either

1. Deny he said we would go down
2. Say we only stayed up due to a woeful bottom 3
3. Say if we had spent we may have been in Europe so we should be ashamed by our lack of ambition

I think he's good fun. He doesn't believe barely any of what he says and just loves a wind up. Last week he was saying Villa had spent too much, this week we haven't spent enough.

This is worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

Well noted. That actually annoys me a lot more than Durham’s comments. Do your research and get your facts right.

That was by far the worst part. Durham was just playing the jester as per but Cundy tried to give an actual analysis on us.

If you want a bit of a laugh about football then listen to talksport but you can't take it seriously as a station. The lack of knowledge of the presenters is part of the fun to be honest.

Currently on inviting Blades fans to call in to the show -

  • Says we are 'not taking the Premiership seriously' due to our signings
  • We don't realise the step up in quality
  • We're relying on Billy Sharp who is "league one level at best"
  • We won't have double points by Christmas
  • How will we feel as a fan base when we finish on less points than Huddersfield did last season.
I love the amount of research that goes into being a host on these types of shows. I doubt they've seen any of our new signings play as they're so wrapped up in the premiership that they don't realise there's quite a bit of quality elsewhere.

I know he's baiting us to chomp, but I just cant wait for him to eat his words.

'They called us journeymen - now we're on a journey to the F-king prem'

He’s a WUM, beginning and end of it. He’s good at it as well.

Does anyone know who the Saudi billionaire is who's backing us......
Another quote from the misinformed prat.

I can't believe some people need this explaining, but: Shock Jock

Scottie Mcclue used to be great at this on Hallam in the 90s. It's a comedy show. The audience are in on the gag. If you ring in or show contempt you are the joke (let me repeat that... YOU ARE THE JOKE!).

You're all seriously falling for this?

What a clown.

I hope he's wrong, I think he's wrong, but let's be honest, there is a huge risk in buying so many players unproven in the premier league.

So if we get Ollie McBurnie, we'll have spent what? £40-50mill? Pray tell how many 'proven Premier League players' we could have got for that? (not to mention their wages smashing our wage structure).

Whoa there musky, maybe I haven't explained myself very well, but I'm not complaining about the way we are going about things in any way. It's sensible and measured, but you'd have to be an idiot not to see that there is a level of risk in hoping that all the championship players manage to step up successfully.
And who says 'pray tell' ffs.

Not every player was born to play in the prem, players earn they right by doing well in the lower leagues like naughton,Walker,Maguire's lowton etc. What grates with me is him dissing our new players as championship players and saying that they not good enough.some of the dross we've had over years from premiership players who came for a quick buck, more recently Hammond.I hope we continue to play with style,to see klopp and co scratching their heads because finding it impossible to defend our attacks .

Think we'll get a lot of credit this season, Ferdinand and Neville for our Man U connections (Ravel and Dean), plus Ferdinand seems to like us and Wilder, he's posted about us a few times, and Alex Scott because she actually knows what she's talking about.

I'd expect Souness and Danny Murphy to talk bollocks because that's all they know.

Shearer seems a good bloke and will stick up for Bill, he'll be fair but if we have any dodgy moments at the back it'll switch quick.

Does anyone actually watch MOTD?

Do they listen to Talksport?
Get a fuckin grip people.

Durham isn't daft and has obviously said what he said for a reason. He actually has decent knowledge of the lower leagues (far more than Cundy) and has previously been positive of CW.

I really don't get why people are giving him what he wants by biting, circulating links and getting riled up - that's exactly his aim.

Surely being the underdog again next season suits CW and the team.

Surprised that some people don’t understand the Talksport format.

Adrian Durham’s job is to attract interest and callers.
So he doesn’t give his personal opinion.
He says what ever his job requires, something controversial and sometimes shocking.
In the recent past he’s said
‘Klopp is a poor manager because he’s a serial loser and he can’t understand why Liverpool fans support him”
‘Newcastle fans are terrible because they don’t support their club. They complain about Mike Ashley when he’s spent millions”
‘Are Man City spoiling English football because they are winning the league so easily it’s no longer fun and will spoil the PL as a spectacle”
‘Are Arsenal fans the most gullible in football. They charge the highest prices, have a massive income yet hardly spend anything and only ever target finishing 4th every season. Surely they should be doing stadium bans if they cared about their club”

So don’t take his comments personal because they are NOT his personal opinions.
He’s only doing a job and this thread is evidence that he’s very good at his job.

Challenged him... received nowt back so far and I don't expect to either.

Adrian Durham will be laughing at your tweet.
HE’S ONLY DOING A JOB, HIS ROLE IS PLAYING THE PANTOMIME VILLAIN.

I’ve heard him say in the recent past how much he likes us and Chris Wilder.
He saw us, commentating on the 3-0 away win at Hull City and he was gushing with praise about our performance.
He said we actually play really good football and he can’t wait to see how we do in the Premier League.

Yep...but that's probably because they had Chris Wilder on the show.

They were ripping someone yesterday because Jason Cundy said he would want Deontay Wilder to beat AJ if they faught.... Who was on the show...of course, Deontay.

No more risk than buying players from abroad, or those who’ve only ever played at the lower end of the Premier league. The alternate is players who have succeeded at that level but on the wain, again a risk and a more expensive one at that.
Or you buy young, hungry, talented players who are confident and are on the up. They have resale value, and are already proven at the level below should the worst happen and we’re relegated. We’ll have a settled squad, with one or two we may sell for a significant profit and the parachute payments to fill any gaps.
Spending money equating to a greater chance of success is a myth, made worse by the Sky Sports News propaganda machine. It’s a belief something more akin to the S6 lot than us, and look where it’s got them.

All he does is say controversial stuff to get people to bite and call in. The guy is a full weight bellend.

It's lazy, easy journalism at it's very best.

We OUGHT to be favourites for relegation on the basis of our resources alone, they're skant compared to the sides we're now alongside - we simply don't have the finances to compete with others for the same targets.

That said, the better, harder working, resourceful journalist would go some way to research how we play and the attributes we have. The better research would have the courage to say "yes they ought to go down, for obvious reasons, but here's some reasons why I think they'll surprise a few and stand a chance of staying up". He clearly hasn't done said research.

It's the equivalent of me starting a debate on "city will win the league". Lazy, easy, ill-informed.

Well done Flawed.......you understand the format.
I used to listen to the late night Scottie McClue show too....he used invite callers to talk about virtually. anything.
People used to come on playing games trying to embarrass McClue, making up stories about sex or dilemmas etc
McClue was massively experienced and could smell wind up merchants a mile off.
He would gradually switch the tables, so where as the caller would start making fun of the presenter, he would eventually start making fun of them.
As you say the irate Blades callers and irrate tweets directed at Durham are the show and keeping Durham top of their ratings.

Should have encouraged Brian to call. That would have been a meeting of minds...
'er, who am I speaking to, is that you Alan, anyway Adrian, believe you me,,,,,'
😀
