No he didn't, you just made an assumption that that's what he meant. Big difference. No one at the Lane has mentioned O'Driscoll by name and that's how it should be. I can't fault SUFC so far and hope we get the man the majority of us seem to want.

So do I but why the uproar about Donny's chairman trying to hold on to his man? I made that assumption, plenty of Bldes did and Ryan did. It's not as though we are miles wide of the mark and Birchy for me was wanting to show us Blades he meant business etc and we are aiming reasonably high. WHo do you think he meant? Brown?

I get told on here that Birchy didn't say SOD by name - I am well aware of that - but then I get told we are after him and doing it all by the book etc. Fine, I'm glad we are but no reason at all why Donny should keep quiet about it imo.

I have no issue with Donny wanting to hold onto their man, but all these public pronouncements they are making are apropos of nothing we have publicly done. Papers (and us) have speculated and Ryan goes off like a Catherine Wheel. What I don't understand is the suggestion that United have done anything wrong so far in their quest for a manager, O'Driscoll or whomever. Keep it quiet and announce once the deal is done, perfectly sensible in my humble estimation.

Why should he keep quiet though? There fans are worried about losing SOD, Ryan is trying to address that and couldn't give a toss about SUFC.

So he made the initial statement. As there has been no approach, why would you constantly keep throwing your manager situation into the limelight, letting all and sundry know that you're willing to let him go?

we aint kept it quiet though. Birchy kicked all this off with his comments about his preferred option - it had to be SOD, and even if it wasn't Ryan was well within his rights to believe it was.

So JR made his initial announcement. Why keep releasing statements?

Take a step back...
Aye, there's no doubt our board is the way out at the top of the 'taking steps back league'.
No-one should be in any doubt that they know exactly what they're doing.
As always.

Apart from the fact the time they took to employ Robson, Blackwell and Speed was probably less than a week in total. You can't have it both ways.

Really? So when they turned down Swansea's move for Speed they didn't already know he'd become our manager?
Sorry but this club's board have made mugs out of supporters over the last few years, on and off the field.
You're free to believe they've suddenly located the position of their arse in relation to their elbow. I don't.

As I say, let's see how it pans out before we start pointing the figure. If we get the right man in the end is it really important to you that we took three weeks rather than three days ?

Aye Fleets, it's just like waiting for the outcome of a summer's transfer business.
I'll be shocked if we get the right man and if they don't end up looking like complete tools.
These are the same people who sacked a manager two games into a season and then decided his replacement, who they'd lined up for months, wasn't up to the job within a couple of months.

When did they say he wasn't up to the job?

While it would seem he was lined up for the job too, there's certainly no proof of it.

Anyhow, today's news has confirmed that if we really want a manager who believes in teamwork then we should be, ahem, dropping everything to go and get Billy Davies.

Seriously some people just need to chill the fuck out. Drink some mulled wine, port or whatever, see the family, drink some more, and forget about united for a couple of days.

Merry christmas peeps. :)
