Twitter offering up Mansfield trading their ex Saints player Taffazoli iranian for Collins.
The Prince won't sign any Iranians :D, He'll be shi'ite.

He's 6'5" so presumably he can head the ball, something our defence is currently incapable of doing at corners.

Never heard of him - get him signed.

Seen the guy play at Mansfield and looked a good solid centre back . Would be a great purchase . However the cynic in me , thinks the twitter may have been for another resturant on London Road.:D

I thought of him when I started this thread. He played against us at the Lane and looked ok, if not completely convincing. Big and strong, but also a bit cumbersome and takes a while to get up to top speed. He was at Southampton as a youngster.

Just the ticket for us then.

I actually think he would be a good signing for us . The only doubt , if any good , he would or will sign for someone else . In saying that he is in Mr Clough brothers patch .

UTB,

No better than young Harrison surely?

The guy is a lot more composed on the ball and could fit in with Basham at the back . Would be a good swap for Collins , but the final say is Mr Clough brother . All about fans opinions , but saying that , i have only seen him play once.

UTB

good addition it's over for Collins now he was good when he had a quality centre back next to him who knew his game and vice verse but think its time for him to move on

Mmm, opinion seems a bit mixed. Doesn't seem like an immediate answer to our defensive troubles.
McCarthy sounded like a real coupe when we got him and look how that's turned out. Big names aren't always the answer.

Basham is not first choice CB.

Just a couple of things. We need proven quality for the level we're at,how many times do we have to say that.

Also,i personally think Mansfield would be getting by far the better deal out of the two clubs imho.

And finally,he played in a defence in which we scored two goals against:rolleyes: How shit must they be,incidently one of the goals in that game scored by Butler:rolleyes: yes,our centre back, the other goal scored by the splinter boy McNulty.

It's not that he isn't a big name. There's a lot of talent in the league below and he's a young lad.

What puts me off is those views on the Mansfield board. They don't seem to be that impressed. A lot saying he's average and that he hasn't developed as well this season as they thought he would.

Just makes me slightly concerned about his ability to step up a level and make much difference if he's only doing ok in League Two.

Edit: To be fair there are others saying he's a real talent with lots of potential. It's a positive move even if he only acts as cover I suppose as Collins seems to have been completely frozen out and is a waste of a wage at the moment.

why not sign this lad we must have had him watched got a good pedigree saints acadamy would,nt cost much and if collins goes in part exchange it gives collins an opportunity for a fresh start and at a level he will be able to cope with for a number
of years. He has been a loyal player for a few years but i agree with cloughy time to go.we,re building a young team and he is not good enough. At 6ft 5 he adds the height we lack at the back, may not be ready yet but a no brainer to get him in

Oh great some bloke from Manfield is the answer. What is the question because if it's how do we stay marooned in league one perhaps that's the right anewer, otherwise we need proven quality and I'm afraid that doesn't come in the form of a swap deal for one of our elder statesmen.

Blyth Spartans are out of the cup, perhaps we could target them?

All reasons we will probably sign him then. Can't believe some are saying we should sign him because he is 6' 5". Is that really how we judge a player these days? Shit a pig, lets check out some basketball players because some of them are over 7' tall.

Oh and don't forget he has a great name. If we sell Diego or let him go for free in the summer it means we still have a foreign sounding player on our books.

Sounds a great deal for both clubs then eh?
Mansfield get a great professional who should be very solid in L2 and we get a tall young defender, possibly with Championship potential who needs a bigger challenge.

UTB!

no one is saying he,s the answer but is a good prospect with collins not involved any more .clough would,nt sign him if
he had,nt potential and it is still a rumour so dont get your knickers in a twist.

It's a no from me.
He's 23. Hardly a "youngster".
People are already moaning that we have a "massive" squad, so what would be the point of signing another "one for the future" who is older than both McGahey and Kennedy.

We don't need any more squad fillers or prospects in this transfer window. We need to replace Brayford, Maguire and Coady with proven first-teamers and get O'Grady or similar back.

erm...it's the rumour section..aren't we supposed to get our 'knickers in a twist' about rumours of players who may not even be on the radar!?!?

Mansfield have just signed (or are about to sign) 2 centre half's whom are fairly decent for their league.

I can't see rumour being a go'er
