Walked into town up Arundel Gate after the match surrounded by our 'boys' with Forest on the other side of the road.

There was a bit of handbags, then at the roundabout a copper tried to push a bloke back into the road, just as an audi was approaching. Had he not been resisting he would have gone straight into the bonnet.

Couple of lads went all the way around the massive queue to get into the south stand turnstiles and tried to force their way in. Coppers stood there watching, not reacting at all when loads of us who had been waiting patiently tried to flag it. Sure enough someone has enough and approaches these lads, bit of pushing and shoving and infighting starts. Suddenly they spring into action. Could have been avoided if they'd just told these knobheads to get to the back.

Not that I am defending SYP here - but there is obviously a balance to be found between taking action and not taking action in an effort to not escalate the situation.

However, I am firmly of the opinion that they far too often take the "easy" route of turning a blind eye rather than take specific action that risks everything kicking off. I'd far rather they dealt with the trouble makers ASAP.

Its analogous to the "you cant give penalties for the holding that goes on at corners, every game would end up 5-5" brigade - yes you can, player will soon stop doing it. Its the same with the trouble makers. Take a hard line on trouble makers, and the problem will soon solve itself. The problem is that's significantly harder than taking the "containment" route they currently favour.

Last time I went to St Andrews it kicked off in Tamworth of all places. Large Blades contingent travelled down, everybody on sides were well up for it.
