I don't know why tap-ins are considered in any way "bad".

Technically undemanding for the goalscorer at the end,perhaps, but in no way bad.

Also Peck's hat trick was much better than James Beattie's, as I recall.

There’s a case that the third is the best of the bunch: superb team play followed by excellent cross tapped in by a midfielder making an outstanding back post late run. I can guarantee you that the coaches will be happier with that one than the other two because they’ll have been working on that movement with Peck.

Precisely, a goal like that takes a lot of moving parts, plus decision-making, good technique etc.
