When you have a manager who endorses the club captain going into an offy with £100 to buy a load of cans, or celebrates 3 pts by getting bladdered and singing on tables with fans, it doesn’t set a high standard of professionalism for developing players does it ?
None of those things break laws.
As an adult, that part is YOUR responsibility.
Blaming your football manager for being OPL whilst driving is crazy.

We were the most professional, hardworking overachievers during loads of this, the standard seemed pretty high to me.

And what happened when the miles built up and players picked up injuries? How was our squad availability post 2019?

We fell off back to the normal level the players could perform at, and we picked up lots of injuries. Was that due to alcohol, is it something that only kicks in after three or four seasons?

Ironically, the £100 at the offy was hailed as the catalyst for our rise, and everyone loved it at the time. Would have been ridiculous to argue that it was something that held us back at the time.

I’d argue that there are probably ways to motivate teams without compromising their long term careers or recoveries.

It’s not like it’s an isolated story of excess is it? if it was an outlier or an end of season celebration then fair play. What’s reasonably obvious given the amount of times players and staff have been seen off their faces or in court is that we have a culture of low player responsibility or professionalism.

We have a whole squad of players that can’t finish 90 mins. As professional footballers. Just give that a think for a second.

Yet other teams couldn't manage them as we stormed through the leagues on a relatively small budget with less talented players. It worked better than anything I've seen in my lifetime, the players seemed to enjoy it as well as it brought them success they couldn't have dreamed of.

Exactly, it wasn't isolated, yet it clearly didn't hinder our fitness during all that time. You're jumping on it now because we are back to operating at about par for our budget/player quality.

Genuinely don't know if our players have been in court more than those in other teams, I'd guess very few fans of other clubs know about Mousset crashing his car.

CBA to look up how many 90s Peck finished last season, but I imagine it was a fair few 😂

Agree with the stop at the offy.
Everyone thought it was a masterstroke at the time .
Can't believe people are using it against wilder/ the cub .
Poor in my opinion 😕

Someone needs to tell them they can get drunk on another clubs wage. Pisses me off that in this day and age, players still show this disrespect to the profession. Judging by the arse blowing shitshow we were accustomed to last 2 seasons, We lack modern footballers, athletes and a modern approach to training and fitness. Outdated bollocks. Saying that, Wilder looking trim in black in them training videos.
Went on the Stadium Tour on Good Friday this year pre match. JG confirmed Wilder regularly cycles into BDTBL to work during the season and he must be continuing this trait as you're right he's in much better shape.

People use things to suit agendas.
Of course it was a masterstroke, the fact McBurnie, Moussett, Peck and Shackleton are morons has nothing to do with Wilder building team spirit.

With regards to finishing 90 minutes as the years have gone by so has the number of substitutes that can be used it is no longer about the eleven who step on to the pitch at the start of the game it is now a squad game

Just to agree, a mate’s lad was a mascot this season. Wilder turned up on foot, having run in from his house, which he also does regularly, according to the guy taking them all round.

True but there are players more inclined to be needed for 90 minutes and they should all be able to do 90 minutes
Now half a team can be changed in a game but if the bench is shyte ???

This was discussed at length in a recent thread. I mentioned that a friend of mine, a medical professor who is head of medical and performance at one of the world’s top clubs, states categorically that, especially with the game having morphed into one for elite athletes, anybody aspiring to reach the top shouldn’t be drinking ANY alcohol. Obviously, this was ridiculed by the well known expert GeorgeDonis1889.

But, culture innit. England don’t win World Cups.
The documentary about the class of 92 buying Salford showed that. The team won a match on the Saturday and had a game midweek. The team celebrated the win and some players were getting drunk. I think it was Paul Scholes and Gary Neville who were present and they were horrified. Scholes called it that the players would still feel the effects on Tuesday and that they would lose the game.Come the midweek match on Tuesday the team lost and were a shambles and the players who got drunk were awful. Scholes was furious as he saw it coming.

Performances have dropped off a cliff. Alongside Rothwell looks awful, alongside Arblaster looks awful, alongside Reidewelde looks awful. Alongside Philips....struggles. Is he trying too hard to be the midfield player that makes The Blades tick? I don't know. Maybe he misses Knill? Someone needs to find out quick because he has become a liability. Lost his head with that tackle on the sideline, he should be experienced enough now to not make those silly tackles. Obviously he's frustrated about his and the teams performances.
Miss the real Sydie Peck, whoever took him bring back home
...asap.

Peck showed some character last night. He knew he'd fucked up holding onto the ball to be robbed on the edge of the box. And it was only a few minutes later than Donovan gave him another ball for him to get robbed again, which resulted in Tanganga and Peck berating Donovan.

But what Peck did after his mistake for the goal is the big thing. He led the charge in the rest of that first half, getting involved in Cannons goal before taking a goal for himself.

Second half i thought he was class, taking the ball from the centre halves as the deepest player, moving the ball faster. I thought he and Rothwell looked decent at times, it needs work, but they looked good. Bringing Blaster and Phillips in helped us later in the game, although it wasn't Phillips best performance, I thought he did enough to allow Peck to carry the ball more, using Blaster as an outlet as well.

Its easy to pick on the negatives and mistakes, but the positives should also be balanced with this

Peck had a slow start to last season too which was credited mainly to Selles’ incompetence and tactics which involved no midfield or defending leaving Sydie isolated

I think actually he might be one of those players who needs a few games to find his groove and sharpness

Last night’s performance was loads better

I’m blaming the goal on 80% Choudhury’s hospital pass and 20% on inexperience from Peck trying to turn on the edge of the area. He probably should have just smashed it for a throw back where it came from.

After that moment though he dragged us through to a very important 3 points. Goal and an assist in a good all round performance. Assist for Blackburn too 😂

Ollie looked loads better too.

I alluded to it the other day, but Peck didn’t start preseason at the same time as everyone else as he had an illness whilst doing his pre preseason training in Spain and couldn’t travel back. Perhaps only a few days before he could start but maybe it also impacted him (I don’t know if that’s the case, just speculating)

I’d say that it was more 60/40 fault on Peck, he’s a player that always wants the ball so even in tight spaces, he should’ve been smarter and aware that he could get robbed.

The one from Donovan was 95 Donovan and 5 Peck as he ran back into trouble to play the terrible ball to Peck straight after the goal 🤣

Poor from Hamza, but Peck made a real mess. He didn’t get my MoM because of it

Fair play though, he was excellent after the goal and was the driving force behind our counters

Tanganga was my MoM though, slightly ahead of Cannon and Kitching
