Sydie Peck - Not one for the future, one for the present

I can't help but think some people are getting a bit carried away over a game v wrexham subs tbh

Vision and quality on the ball will be there at any higher level. He also coped physically with men who are probably as strong and aggressive as most in the PL
See I can see his quality but completely disagree with how much you are rating wrexham's much changed side

I didn’t rate them in terms of ability but as in physicality. I fully agree that until he has played a dozen Championship games we cannot make sensible judgements on his career path.
I do remember seeing Phil Jagieltar playing in midfield and thinking much the same as i do about Peck

Up there amongst the best Academy grad, Blades full debut’s I’ve seen. Walker’s and Maguire’s were the best and we know how that panned out.

To do what Peck did in the middle of the park - decision-making, tempo, technique, confidence, aggression - marks him out as an exceptional talent. It brought back memories of Roy Keane’s first game for Forest at Anfield under Cloughie. Yes, the opposition is a factor but this lad looks destined for greatness.

Deserved MOTM against Wrexham...he was immense in midfield. Looked every inch a calm, composed player who's not shy of getting stuck in when needed. Not sure why he got booked for the little ruckus at the end but the Wrexham player didn't?

Don't think he needs a loan to a lower league at this point. He's showed his worth against lower league opposition and he looked head and shoulders above Wrexham's 2nd string. Keep him here, give him minutes when we can. He's got everything needed to turn into a top, top player.

Just a thought but could he also be cover for RB if we have any more injuries?

Peck was Coulibaly wasn't because he was awful and was surprised he wasn't hooked at half time.

Wilder was giving chin up gestures to Coulibaly during the first half. I think you’re right than only injury would see him hooked, as that was a painful performance.

It was sad to watch actually. The fella looked devoid of confidence and form. He’s never shown enough to look like he has a first team future here, but he’s much better than that showing.

We all love a "one of our own", and we have all love Wilder, Billy, Blaster signing deals, but I'm told that when it comes to Peck, there was no negotiation, no debate at all. It was a yes. Not sure if that means he has no agent, a family member acting as agent, or just a player-focused agent, but we have have him signing up to a 4 year deal, I'm told. Not sure if that's 4 on top of his current, or 4 years from now. I have asked.

His parents were his agents when he originally joined, not sure if that will change with this contract.

He played very well on Tuesday and possibly puts himself up there as 4th choice CM behind Souza, Blaster & Hamer. It will be interesting to see if we go for another winger and move Hamer back to midfield or if we sign a back up CM and keep Hamer out wide.

Hamer looks a little bit awkward out there at the moment. He wasnt great vs Huddesfield, Rotherham or Preston on the left. Hopefully as the 'new' system evolves they'll learn to rotate into each others positions more along the front 4. As for Peck, he looks a great prospect, hopefully his agent isnt a 🔔🔚

Millers after him on loan

I know people want him to stay but think this would be a great move for him in all honesty.

Especially if insert recall clause and an additional fee/fine if doesn't play 50%+ of available minutes.

The lads good enough to be in & around the first team squad , as we all know in this league the games come thick & fast & with it injuries & suspensions . I dont think loaning him out is the answer unless between now & the transfer window closing there’s some one & outs ⚔️

Would be a smart move all round to get him some proper game time in League 1. Not sure Rotherham would be the best fit for him (I’d much prefer somewhere like Peterborough personally) but a season testing himself in a good league 1 side will do him the world of good.

My first question to Steve Evans if I was the blades would be

‘You want us to lend you another promising youngster after you didn’t give Harrison Neal a kick?’

I’d want some heavy financial penalties if he was going to Evans and not getting a look in.

The likes of Liverpool did it to us, so we should do the same. If he’s not guaranteed to be starting he should stay and be around the first team here

Not sure about Rotherham (especially after last season with Seriki), but Peck going out on loan would be better for both us and him, same with Marsh as well.

Get them out somewhere where they can get half a season under their belts and decide in January whether to recall them or leave them out on loan.
