Thursday is Sharp's last chance to score 18 goals in one game, then he's out...
Yep, Billy having a dry spell after being on fire and scoring for fun has got me worried. Scoring in bursts is something you just don't expect from him. Maybe is heart's not in it, or he's fallen out with his teammates? He also seems to have piled weight on his arse since the Shrewsbury game.

The shoutbox is embarrassing while a match is on ,I have to stay out of there as it winds me up too much.

I find a "Shoutbox Sweep" fits the bill. (First to say "blip", first to say "promotion", how many references to "crayons" and "going for a dump")

I followed the game on shoutbox yesterday. I presumed we were playing shit given some comments then when Billy missed that chance it seemed it was all going to go wrong and I switched my phone off fearing the worst . Put it back on again about 5 minutes later to be greeted by everyone saying "COUTTTTSSSS" so thought he must have won a corner because obviously he wouldn't have scored then was stunned when my mate ran up to me saying "2-0 United, Duffy and Coutts"

Always room for improvement.

And i agree...a 4-0 win, with three goals from midfield, a striker on double figures before Christmas (having missed 3 or 4 pens), last game 35 shots, 19 on target apparently 117 shots in the last 5 games, 38 league goals already this season... We need to be more clinical.

16 goals only from our strikers, out of 38, there's still plenty of room for improvement in that area of the team.

Scunthorpe fans are absolutely correct in not mentioning us or considering us promotion rivals; they know that it's probably going be a damn close thing between them, Bolton and Bradford for that precious 2nd automatic spot.

Got a couple sat behind me trying to figure out why Coutts kept getting booed when he was playing well, and why Scougle was also getting booed when he was only warming up.

Saw a tweet from Bet365 last night which listed the top goal scorers in England (possibly europe too) and we've scored 38 goals already....
Yeh, they put us at the top of the list but Newcastle & Scunthorpe have both scored more than us. Probably some in other leagues in Europe too but I can't be arsed to look. Strange tweet really.

Hopefully he can kick on from yesterday but there's no getting away from the fact that there's room for improvement up top, and imo vast improvement is required with quality of crosses into the box.
Steady on there you will be upsetting sitwell, we should all know we can't improve on what we already have ;)

It's the biggest room in the house and if you look out of it's window, you can witness the wisdom of geese.

One of my old chalet at Butlins used to be next to the duck pond, and when i used to look out of the window i would see a big fuck off gander of geese most morning, and for the main part all they used to do was honk at 4am in the middle of summer, and shit everywhere. I don't know what wisdom they had, but those geese didn't seem to have any, This problem was exacerbated by the stupid cunt in the next chalet who used to feed the bloody things. They was also Canadian Geese. There used to be a couple of swans that used to show up now and they was nasty bastards and they would kick the fuck out of any geese that was didn't have the wisdom to go near them, and the rest of the geese would give it toes when the swans used to rock up. I liked the Swans best. Especially the day when one idiot Welsh pot washer decided to try and catch one and put a Cardiff City shirt on it and it turned round and attacked him.

With Scunny it is quite simple - all fans have to do is go and lookat their fixtures for Nov/Dec and Jan (and Feb too) - They have some difficult teams to play.

I looked a while ago, and posted that if they were top come the end of January then they would probably win the league. It should be no surprise they are slipping a bit given the fixtures.

It's like any team - you win it because you are best over a full season - how many remember Tranmere or Leyton Orient during the past 5/6 seasons? - One swallow doesn't make a summer.

Their manager is half decent and destined for better things - it's no surprise he is getting the very best out of what they - and dropping very fortunate getting Josh Morris from Bradford when they were managerless........I bet McCall is rueing whoever made that decision. Morris makes the difference for Scunny as Clough does for Bolton - both might not be at their respective clubs come January 31st.

But Duffy,Sharp,Coutts and Fleck could attract bids and EEL be recalled.

They tweeted other meaningless stats yesterday, including that Bristol Rovers' Matty Taylor has scored more goals than Suarez and Higuain, followed by #UTG

Call me a cynic but it looks to me like a bookmaker trying to ingratiate themselves with fans so their brand gets hundreds of retweets and some free publicity.

I'm guessing some of those are no longer with us...
No they're still here. It wouldn't be difficult to trawl back through posts from August and see who they are - but no need as they'll be at it again soon when we next lose a game.

Yeah, I'm one of those, and will be happy to have every single word rammed back down my throat. After the early season Southend debacle i put a tenner on us to go down at 25/1, i thought we was that bad that this season would be a real nightmare. I think that tenner was the catalyst for a dramatic improvement.....

yes.... i'm sure i said i agreed there was room for improvement...

I would also like to have my cake and eat it but perhaps the reason for the decent spread of goals is because the strikers are not always selfish, which reduces their own chances.

Sharp created one the other day. He could have abandoned all thought of getting in a crossing position and just stayed in the box. It would increase his chances of getting goals. Some of the selfless running also creates space for others to profit.

Yes, he should have scored, but that's strikers, they will miss.

We should be careful what we wish for. We clamoured for more goals so Clarke came in and we didn't win a game. Even if we get Evans in Jan as some would like, who says him and Sharp are comparable? If he does come, prepare for a Sharp or Evans thread by mid-February!

Absolutely this! We have a striker in Billy Sharp with 12 goals, almost a third of the league goals and he's often found out on the wing putting the ball in the box. The work rate of Billy and Done particularly has been excellent, which if we weren't scoring at all you'd want them to focus on scoring goals, but as we've scored a lot in other areas, its not a major concern.

Personally i think with Lavery and Clarke as well, we have around 40 goals between the strikers, but as Clarke and Lavery only really started the season properly recently, they're playingg catch up.

We're creating chances, we need to be more clinical up front, as Bury, Charlton and Walsall games all proved, but we can't deny that there are goals throughout the team.

Indeed they could - it is then up to the club to offer contracts that match up in some way if that happened.

We will then see if the club has ambition or not.

I would genuinely hedge my bets on every single one of those four you listed still being at the club come season end - which is then a different matter.

I would expect Fleck and Duffy to have an uplift in their contract for getting promotion seeing as they both signed in the summer for CW.
I would expect Coutts and Billys agents to organise new contracts based on promotion.

Time will tell.
