Premier League Cup semi final away at Swansea.

7pm KO this Friday, sadly playing at their training ground due to the Liberty Stadium pitch being unavailable.

Good luck to the lads and hardy souls who will make the 9 hour round trip.

This means the Birmingham City U23 game scheduled for Fri at Stocksbridge has been pushed back to May 2nd K/o 13:00.

All the best to the lads they can get a result tomorrow. I will look forward to being at the final but Swansea on a Friday night is way past my bed time so look forward to reading about the victory here.

I'll be travelling to Swansea on Friday. I'll post more tomorrow. But, as background...
Swansea are the current holders of this cup.
The other SF is also being played at 7pm on Friday, Leicester City v Aston Villa.
Not all Academies enter. The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc don't usually enter.
Depending on the number of entries, there are qualifying rounds. To get it all down to 8 groups of 4. Those are played home & away. With the top two qualifying for a Round of 16. Then, it's straight knockout. Done & dusted on the night. Extra Time & Penalties if required.
Utd were the only Cat 2 Academy to get through to even the QF, let alone this SF.
We qualified out of a Group which included two Cat 1 Academies, Villa & WBA.
Each side is allowed three over age outfield players and an over age goalkeeper. All others must be born after 1 Jan 1994.
But, as many people will know, United's approach is NOT to treat U23 as a RESERVE team. First teamers are very rare. Get 'em in young, cull ''em if they're not going to make it. Harsh, realistic. That's the strategy (my words)

Can’t make it tomorrow due to work but hopefully the lads can produce a great performance to take them to the final in what will be a difficult game but I’ve every faith in em UTB

Looks like I won't need to stay sober to do my report
As it looks like all you wannabee armchair part time fly by nights can watch a live feed in your man (& woman) caves
I'm planning a pincer movement, one "man" assault on the Swansea CBF end.
So don't grass me up if you see me on the internet

Gutted not to be able to get to the match tonight.

How ffs can they have a 7pm fixture at Swansea when it is 5 hours drive away on a working day ?

They don’t make it easy?

Well
You say that. But the nearest Brewery to the training ground doesn't open it's Tap Door until 5pm. So that works very well. (Boss Brewing)
One door closes, one opens.

All tuned in and ready to go...... then The Lane tomorrow.

Loving it.

Really tough one this for our youngsters.

Clear handball by Swansea player there but he fakes 'ball to face' and gets away with it

A couple of good saves from Eastwood.
A tough ask for our lads. With the exception of Eastwood all U19. All their forwards are 21+. The Dutch lad is 24 in September.
Impressed with Slater and Gilmour and love Cantrill's attitude.

Yeah Swansea look slightly the better side, Mallon should've got a shot away though when he was through though. Our CB looks good but small, great header early doors where the ball came straight down the pitch but he directed it to Eastwood off what appeared to be the top of his head.

One triallist playing for us - Luke Yates (Alvechurch).
Michael Elstone (Fulham) on bench.
