The original story is from yesterday. Here's the response.

ALAN Tate has rejected talk of a move to Sheffield United in exchange for Gary Speed, insisting: "I'm going nowhere."

The Evening Post understands that the swap deal idea was floated at Bramall Lane.

But Speed now seems set to stay with the Blades — and Tate insists he would have had no interest in a move north.

"There's no chance of me going," Swansea's vice-captain said.

"I don't know a lot about the rumours and it was a surprise to me when I heard them.

"But however serious they were, the fact is that it's not for me.

"I don't want to go to Sheffield United and I don't want to go anywhere else, even if it would mean a pay rise.

"I have seen people move on for bigger money at another club, and I could probably get bigger money at Sheffield United.

"But the money doesn't interest me.

"I've seen other players leave for more money and it hasn't made them happy. They have ended up wanting to come back to Swansea.

"I am very happy both on and off the pitch at Swansea and, even if someone offered me £5,000 or £6,000 a week more, I wouldn't go."

Speed is tipped to remain in Yorkshire after Swansea failed in a second approach for the former Wales captain on Monday.

Huw Jenkins was keen on the ex-Everton, Leeds and Newcastle man, but the suggestion is that he is being lined up for the manager's job at United.

That means Swansea's search for a new boss goes on — but Tate is unconcerned about the delay in finding Paulo Sousa's successor.

"It's dragging on a bit, with people apparently turning us down for whatever reason," he added. "That's up to them, but it should be an attractive job.

"Whether these people have had a sniff of a job somewhere else I don't know, but I'm not bothered about waiting for a manager.

"Maybe I should stick my CV in myself!"
