I'm not overly convinced about the depth of our squad, although in all fairness some of the new signings haven't really had a chance. However, we're accumulating a fair few yellow cards and it's likely we'll have a few suspensions before Christmas. At the moment we have:

Fleck 4
Lundstram 3
Baldock 3
JoC 2
Henderson 2
McBurnie 2

Some of these are taking one for the team but we do seem to give away some daft and unnecessary fouls at times. I'd like us to be a bit more disciplined in that department.

We can cope without any of them on their own. We'd struggle if we had Fleck & Lundstram out at once.

That run of games in December is where we need to accumulate a lot of points if we can (Newcastle - Watford). We might need to consider managing suspensions around that, as best we can...

A big thumbs up for Bash as well as you’ve mentioned him. Apart from adapting to the Prem so well, I bet many Blades thought he’d be topping the bookings list by now along with Fleck and he doesn’t even figure in it.

We'll not miss McBurnie, but the chance of him getting another card depends very much on him actually getting on the pitch!

As already mentioned because of Wilder we play to a formula.

Last season showed when we lost key players due to suspensions, it made no difference what so ever.
In fact the back up players like Crainey and Stearman were superb, looking so comfortable.

Think if we lose 1 or 2 players we’ll be totally fine.
However too many changes and we are more likely to struggle.

According to the Premier League rules:

• An accumulation of 5 yellow cards results in a one match suspension.
• An accumulation of 10 yellow cards results in a twomatch suspension.
• An accumulation of 15 yellow cards results in a threematch suspension.
• If a player reaches a total of 20 yellow cards for the season he/she is required to attend a special hearing at the FA to discuss their on-field behaviour.

However, there is a concept of cut-off dates for yellow cards.

• The five yellow card count is “reset” on 31st December. It means a player receiving their fifth yellow card of the season on January 1 or later will not receive a ban.
• The ten yellow card count is “reset” on second Sunday in April. It means a player receiving their eleventh yellow card of the season after the second Sunday of April will not receive any ban.
