If he took a wage cut I'm sure we'd offer him a deal, but enough people have said that the figures on the internet are true so I'm not surprised we haven't.

Good on him for wanting to continue, but I selfishly hoped he'd join our coaching staff.

Depends what his priorities in life are if he wants to stay close to his home in Cheshire then he’ll probably have to take a significant wage cut as outside the prem there aren’t clubs around that can pay him big wages. If he is prepared to move to keep playing he’ll get big money in America for a few years. If he wants to coach I’d imagine everton would make space for him so would we but it’d have to be below the 18’s for us.
