Wilder is busy trying to get us ready for the championship and when you look at the betting, he's not even on the list!!. My niece supports them and she says he'd be stupid to take the job as they're in such a mess on and off the field!. the fact he's never managed in the championship is another point!!. Utb

Surely you're not trying to compare struggling league 2 Northampton to relegated PL club Sunderland?

As Wilder himself would say if a players main motivation is simply money then he's not the right player for this club.

I can't imagine many players take a pay cut to play for the Blades. I would think for the vast majority of players the main motivation is playing football. After all they probably did it for 15 years without earning a penny until their first pro contract.
 



First off, it's a 'good pressure' that other teams (may be) interested in Wilder. Most of our recent managers wouldn't have been in such demand. Secondly, from Third Division to Sunderland who will be hoping for an instant return to the PL would be a step too far for CW. Sunderland simply daren't risk another poor managerial change. Like us, they've wasted too many years while a lot of clubs have forged ahead. I'm not suggesting that CW would be a 'poor' choice, but I'm sure most Sunlan fans would if they were languishing near the bottom of the table by Christmas. The board would be accused of 'doing it on the cheap'.

I'm sure a lot of these rumours are invented to fill the pages in the dog days of summer. I think there's every chance that Preston's Simon Grayson will go to the Black Cats. He's done well at Preston, but is now treading water and a relegation fight is as likely as a play-off push. To assuage the Preston fans' disappointment, David Moyes is manouvering himself as a replacement. Just hope Preston's board don't look up Moyes managerial record...

One of my friends is a big Sunderland fan, an expert in dealing with financially dodgy companies and he reckons Sunderland are heading the same way as Coventry. None of the transfer money for Pickford etc will be put back into the club.

They've got £91 million over 3 years to fritter away as parachute payment for regulation from the Premier League as well. Just think how many League 1 players Wilder could buy with that pot! o_O
