#SUFC team to play Hartlepool tomorrow: Turner, Davies, McGahey, Basham, Harris, JCR, McGinn, Reed, Di Girolamo, Baxter, Porter

I reckon 3-0 Blades, Diego Hattrick!

Competition rules dictate that teams must select at least six players who started the previous game, or six of the top eleven in terms of competitive starts from the season so far.

In that case i count four, maybe five. Where's that team come from?

with Baxter controlling midfield and hopefully running the show...2-0...although id foresake all cups for top 2 finish....

I believe the back four will be 4 of the 6 that started last game, with Mcnulty and Diego both upfront, and I predict 3-2 Hartlepool

Not heard what team is. We need him back asap tho and for sat.dread to think what team Clough gonna put out sat tho.

Thanks. Glad diego getting a run out. Thought he might have put mccarthy in for fitness. Dimaio seems to be a forgotten man so far

Great team... Guaranteed loss... Don't use important (starting XI) players... No more wasted time in this stupid comp.
I reckon that's Nigel's thinking too, announcing the team the day before.

Prediction. Blades to win, fresh faces to play well. Then get dropped for next match.UTB.

I remember in the 1970s the Star would reveal the line ups of all the local teams on the eve of matches. Brian Clough revealed his line up on the day before his last home game (v Blades) in May 1993

I think it's good that he's announced the team today as it tells the fans what players they're going to be travelling up to watch, and tbh i like the look of the side apart from one exception and i think it's no coincidence that it's the striking option i'm not keen on as we still look like we haven't sorted it.Although having said all that if we sit back then we're not going to do much attacking anyway.

Me personally, would have liked Mcnulty to start,so we could try to get him 1 or 2 goals to get that confidence higher than what it is atm, starting Porter isn't going to achieve anything really as we all know he won't be playing in the next game.I understand the risk of injuries etc and iv'e propably just answered my own question as to why Cloughy is playing Porter, but as i say,imo Mcnulty would be starting tomorrow.

Never really understood that one personally, don't we all support Sheffield United? not just certain individuals?

It's the Johnstone's Paint Trophy mate,i was mainly referring to the team been a decent one and that the fans who will be making the long journey up will deserve to see a decent set of players instead of a weak set with it been the JPT and i'm glad Cloughy has done that.

I know, I'm just saying, I've never understood personally, people deciding to go to a match based on the likely lineup... I know people do and fully respect their right to... just don't consider it myself.

I get your point mate and i don't go to a match based on team selections myself, but like you quite rightly say some fans do go to games based on this,so on that alone i thought it was a good thing to see that there are a lot of our better players playing to hopefully see more blades turn out and a better performance.

I know there's a lot keep saying they want to see Diego play, well this is their chance.

I can't wait for the "Clough should be sacked for playing into their hands/letting them plan" if we lose ;)
