That’s a new one on me.

Misspelling is one thing, achieving it by adding a letter is baffling, particularly in the middle of the name, at least Osborne and Sharpe get it as a suffix.

Then instead of the addition of an e, we have the removal of it, as in Clark.

To be fair, Colquhoun is a brutal one to spell. His first appearance at the Lane was in 1962, for Bury Reserves, when he was 16. Needless to say, our programme mangled his name:

I’d say Peter Kachuro but United and the press seemed to change his spelling season-to-season before settling finally on Katchouro, so anyone guilty of misspelling that in the past is given a rare reprieve.

Cipriano as I recall would always get surprise usage from time to time by reporters too.
