SUFC Best League One Player?

He wasn't 'awful' under Clough and Adkins and was obviously a good footballer. Initially he was a bit nesh following his serious injury, probably unfit and consistently played out of position by Adkins.

The other 4 were all very good, but when you only have one vote, none of them did quite enough.

Agree with Sharp, personally I'd say a mazy Murphy run and shot was the best thing to watch and I'd say Coutts is a better footballer than Harry. That is not a dig at Harry, who was technically excellent, I just think Coutts just about has it all.

It wasn't entirely his fault, Coutts was coming back from injury with a bad team around him with lots of pressure as he was on a relatively decent wage. That said, respectfully disagree, he has been awful or at least poor for most of the time before this season. Over their time here those other names I mentioned have put in more consistent/quantity of good performances.

Murphy was a great player to watch, but again he really only kicked on in his second season, Evans was far more entertaining throughout his time playing for us in league one. Have to say it is refreshing discussing which players are better in various aspects :)

Surprised McDonald didn't get a few more votes - we did get 90 points that year and we were unlucky not to go up for various reasons

So Sharp, Fleck, Maguire and Evans dominate the polls on here. I do find it amazing that Coutts gets 7 despite being awful for most of his time here, yet Lowton Brayford Coady and Basham don't get a single one XD

Sharp contributed the most during our time here, Evans was the best player to watch, Maguire was the best player ability wise and Fleck is a mixture of all three.

I said it during the months of his 'Blades assassination', but the sole reason Coutts was so ineffectual during those dark seasons, was because of the absolute dross he was surrounded by. IMO it had nothing to do with fitness or coming back from an injury (although, granted it wouldn't have exactly helped).

It's no coincidence that as soon as he was surrounded by the likes of Fleck, Duffy, Freeman etc & we moved to a more slick style of play, Coutts has flourished. Accomplished ball player, eye for a killer pass, keeps it simple when it's called for, difficult to push off the ball (if you can get anywhere near him). The only thing that lacks in his game is the ability to finish... but let's be honest, he doesn't really need it does he.

As far as quality goes, Coutts is my favourite of our tenure in this league.
