Could we use the Olympic Legacy Park stadium? I’ve no idea on the pitches there and I am aware that it is used for rugby, too. Which could be a problem.

I know Scarborough Group were behind it, but are they the operator? Could be a barrier, if so, whilst the Prince is the owner.

Maybe we have to just hope that Sheffield FC finally build somewhere of their own.
Olympic Legacy Park, as well as the "other issues" is plastic.

The pitch at Coach & Horses (Sheffield FC) is grass and holds up brilliantly during the winter, I'm sure they'd have no issue fitting an extra few games in... 😄

I'd not really clocked the lack of viable non league venues in the area. Explains why the women's team play their league cup "home" games at Alfreton (and a couple of years ago, Scunthorpe!)

Is there something in the rule book that rules out using shirecliffe for most of the games , with the odd one at the lane .

What about Parkgate? Or do Rotherham play there?

Maybe we could use Millmoor like the Sunday league sides 🤣.
re Millmoor. A number of Academies have taken over operation of local, and unused, and increasingly derelict local stadiums for their Academy and Women's sides. I'm particularly thinking of Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground. Where Sunderland played United recently. Wheatsheaf Park in Staines. Used by Brentford. And where United U18 are scheduled later this season. And Rush Green Stadium where West Ham United play.

But .... maintaining and operating a stadium at any level costs money. And of course, there may be a bring it up to scratch in the first place cost.

All that by way of emphasising the potential costs involved of Cat 1. Although, of course, even as a Cat 2 Academy - we need somewhere to play!!!!

I'm going to say - no that's not ruled out. And would be more feasible at an Academy only Shirecliffe if the first team are at Dore.

Maybe there'd need to be some spectator facilities upgrade to meet some regulations. You know, like a khazi you don't have to do the old - please Sir can I go wee wee - routine 🤓

Sheffield fc had to play most of their games in March/April on a neutral ground because the pitch was permanently waterlogged

And. Today we have the launch of ANOTHER competition involving Cat 1 Academies. The National League Cup.

HMP Ranby near Retford has a football pitch. This could be an option. It may be like an episode of Porrige but there will be a captive audience.

The inmates maybe expecting celebrities such as David 'Diddy' Hamilton but I think he's got some trfficking problems.

I haven’t heard of this one before, but where is the benefit for the National League clubs? They already have a 46 game season plus the FA cup and Trophy. Can only imagine they’re receiving a (relatively) decent wedge to agree to this?

"As in the EFL Trophy, the Premier League 2 sides will play all of their matches away from home - with the hosts keeping all of the gate receipts.

The combined prize fund for the cup is £1m, provided by the Premier League, and all money will be kept by National League clubs."

Something else we are missing out on then with our category status.

I know it’s not about who the best teams are but it’s frustrating to see Sunderland and Wolves in there, 2 sides our u21’s have just beaten

I’d enjoy seeing our lads up against conference sides

I don’t think Gordon Kaye is available to drive the coach anymore
