Subs

Can say it now that we've won but what was Slav doing with the subs?! We were cutting them apart with pace, so brought on Sharp, McGoldrick and Basham!!!
Its not the subs its the attitude. Said it before, but we can't sit back and think we can close out a 3-0 lead with this midfield/ defence. We have to keep pushing forward and not get sloppy with the ball.

In fairness to Bash he came on after the 2nd goal to shore things up.. which worked.

Moaned a bit about mcburnie today, but how did he stay on so long. Should have been hooked at 40 minutes.

Won possibly and I'm being generous 2 headers, one that was purposeful..

By comparison Devante Cole, put himself about took a good goal... Can we wait any longer for this flash in the pan to come good??

Mousset had to come off though, so it’s either Sharp or Brewster, the latter has no hold up play..

You take strength and pace off and replace it with two golden oldies, you are just asking for Barnsley to push higher up the field... incredibly naive.

Sharp and Didzy is just a no, plain and simple.
Really poor subs by Slav

3-0 up and as much as we all love and adore billy and didz, they aren’t the future . Surely a great time to put on Brewster .

Fleck and Norwood offered no cover for the defence whatsoever in those last 20

Can Moose, as a professional footballer, play an entire football match? Surely the only reason he comes off today is fitness / injury concerns. We’re getting chance after chance on the break; he’s wanting the ball and got the defence panicking. They can’t get numbers forward without giving away chances. If capable of playing 90 minutes, he has to stay on, and we’d surely win that 4 or 5 nil.

He has just come back after months out, and since he has been here not last 90 minutes, it was nailed on both him and Ndiaye would be subbed.

The Big question is, you know that going into the game, why isn't that passed on to Brewster, you more than likely to get a chance, just watch Mousse, all the time he is on the pitch, and do the same

I had no problem with mousse coming off, we know he can't do 90 and if thats the price so he plays every week then so be it...brewster should have come on for mc burnie in the first half.

I still have hope for brewster, especially now were trying to play strikers in and cross first time..

That ball osborn put accross the box, mcburnie pointed to his feet after it went a yard past his feet. ... What's next, have we got to shove his head down so his leg kicks out for him.. Do we have to coach a (former) Scotland International striker how to attack the ball??

Watch the fucking ball and get onto the end of it...

Yep, he was signalling to the bench, that substitution can't be questioned really, he had to come off. To be expected after months out, if only we could get him properly fit...

I know it’s just taken for granted that Mousset can only play part of a football match. I wonder if this is how it will be for his entire career - and if so, is there some way this fact can be reflected in the new contract we will presumably offer him later this year …

Barnsley 3 down not won in the previous 5 ? Not scored for nearly 900 minutes ( according to RS commentary) managers job on the line, fans making for the exits, everyone knew it was planned change Mousse would be coming off.

Stick Brewster on, he scores he gains confidence, if he doesn't score his pace stops them from pushing on.

Ndiaye was always going to be second one to be subbed, sorry Didsy, Bash drop into CM, Ozzy, play behind the strikers, don't worry about creating, but again his legs, energy stop them coming at us

Yep. A good team keeps hold of the ball for the last 15 minutes. Absolutely nothing to do with making the right subs, just a stronger mentality that's required to continue playing. Instead we decided to shit ourselves and go long for that last period turning over possession time after time.

As others have said, Moose is made of biscuits and is in form, and on a yellow, obvious and necessary to take him off.

The problem is on the bench, Brewster, the only other option with pace is as attractive a proposition as a weeks holiday in Slough, so I can't really blame him for not putting him on tbh.

100% Jebbison back in January, Brewster somewhere else. Until then, what's Hackford up to?

Squad needs major surgery.

We lost Henderson and JOC, think our defence got used to conceding goals last season, went into games thinking its not if, but when, looks like its carried over to this season.

For some reason Ramsdale appears not only more confident at Arsenal, but he looks 10 times more vocal, calling defenders out for not making tackles/blocks. None of our 3 keepers seems capable of that, they lack Hendersons arrogance/commitment to shout and push the defenders, and not concede

Looks like Bash will only be used to cover injuries or brought on to shore things up, unless we get a leader and a voice in defence or midfield in January, we are going nowhere

Absolutely how I saw it too mate.

It's easy when you are winning, on a role, last few years there hasn't been a stand out vocal leader on the pitch, the team was 'united'

When your not winning, like last season, heads drop, confidence goes, everyone stopped fighting their own battles and for each other, same this season, desperately need a leader, on the pitch for 90 minutes, someone that will recreate the role Vinny Jones did, roll his sleeves up, get stuck in, and give anyone that's not giving their all, a gob full !

McBurnie just never looks like scoring, don’t even think he had an attempt at goal today. He does do some decent things elsewhere on the pitch but he’s got to be much more aggressive around goal..

McGoldrick did well for the third but he is absolutely not a midfielder, Barnsley were running off him and past him all too easily and he was partly culpable for both goals.

That said, the lack of desire from the defender to keep a clean sheet was shocking. There's a complete lack of leadership at the back.

I've always said it. If you are a team that is cutting the opposition to shreds, then you keep your foot on their neck until the very end and kill them off. This approach breeds confidence, togetherness and ruthlessness.

When well on top during a game, a team should never be tinkered with, otherwise nervy endings like today very often happen. United should have won that 0-5 and Moose should have had his hat trick. The team would then have been raring to go for the next match. Instead, the players will be left doubting their performance and their confidence will be down, feeling that they were very lucky to get the three points in the end.

I'm a Slav fan, but not impressed with his game-management today.

I don't dislike the guy, but devante came on and eclipsed mcburnies season inside 8 minutes.. Even I'm losing faith..

That goal at Brighton, I thought we'd got a player so where's he gone.

Brewster has pace?

Vinny was a complete waste of a shirt. Liability, limited talent and a knob end.

Good idea...take off the most potent threat and allow them to grasp the momentum. Baffling...

Despite my overtly critical stance on Slav I am neither a fan or a hater, as it stands. I just don’t see a plan or a pattern or any managerial influence worth its salt, to date. Happy to persevere but I have nagging doubts he is not what we all thought he would be. Anyone can bask in the glory of individually skilled players - the hard management comes in when you have to get results from what you have and, to date, there is little or no evidence that he has that ability.

The problem with bringing Brewster on instead of Sharp or Didsy is that they’ve earned their right to play with their performances. Sorry to say but Brewster had to wait his time. He will get chances to play and he has to take them when they come, but Sharp/ Didsy haven’t really done anything wrong and they have both registered goals… Brewster hasn’t and he can’t retain the ball…
