That's the main improvement Cloughie's made for me, we're not conceding daft goals. OK Stevenage aren't world beaters but a couple of months ago we'd have lost to a sloppy goal today. We're looking hard to beat and that's a huge improvement.

Just for once SUFC Board, sign a fucking player in January, I mean a real player. A striker who can score a few goals would be nice. We don't need to spend a fortune at this level so please just get your hand in your pocket and give the manager some goals.

As to Clough well I was really disappointed but I've made a full circle on him. I like the way he talks, the way he conducts himself and he sounds like a proper football bloke, not a wannabe celebrity manager. Nice one Cloughie, keep it going.

Spot on. No excuses now we have the Prince on board.

By all accounts we dominated the game but didn't put the ball in the net, goal scoring centre forward arriving in January and we will be comfortable in mid table and ready to heave proper go at the League next season.

My sentiments exactly, sounds like we should have won the game and were a bit unlucky. Pity one or two around us also picked up a point.

We ain't got a pot to piss in.

Can't see any high calibre players coming in anytime soon.

It's a very different board now. The 'just for once' days are behind us. HRH and his team mean business, as they have already demonstrated in terms of both cash and commitment.

There will be money to spend in January but only on the right players. No-one will sanction spending for the sake of it, least of all our very sensible manager.

The major spending will come next Summer and thereafter. There's no quick fix though. We have to be patient.

Satisfactory point today. We dominated possession, came close on a few occasions and were not threatened at the other end.

On another matter - did anyone else listen to that abject commentator today? He couldn't tell Porter from McGinn; McGinn from Baxter; Baxter from Miller; Miller from Porter and most bizarrely, in the second half, Hill from McGinn!

Comédie Noire.

two real goalscorers needed. And Jan will be too late. Sad but maybe fact. We are in a real mess.

why is it too late , more than half a season left
remember palace under Dowie coming from a similar position in the championship , if Plug of the Beano s dad can do it any one can

2 points dropped today for me, haven't been able to say too often this season. Didn't create much ourselves but Stevenage were poor. They will struggle on that form.

Lots of Santa Blades in the away support....

Thought we played well personally, can't really argue much with Clough's interview now I'm back and have heard it. We need a more ruthless streak, but were unlucky with the ones that hit the woodwork.

So far he has invested less than me.

For the time being I'm staying firmly in the 'I'll believe it when I see it' camp.

Oh no he hasn't.

He's not likely to just throw piles of cash at daft signings though, nor do I consider Clough the sort of manager to do so.

Seriously, why would a Saudi Prince take a 50% share in a football club (particularly one in the third division) with any intention other than to drive it to the Premiership? Otherwise his involvement makes no sense at all. How on earth would it advantage HRH to commit his personal executives to substantial time and effort on SUFC business, with no end product? It would be sheer idiocy. There is no record, or even sign, of him being an idiot

In any event, he is contractually obliged to provide substantial funds (rumoured to be £20m) for investment in the first team. Not property, not overseas interests but our first team. That means buying players. Of course it will happen. Maybe nothing spectacular but instead steadily and consistently. He's actually done it already. Jose and Flo were not funded by the tooth fairy.

Just outofinterest, like ... how come HRH came in a day after the STW closed?

Don'tcha think that if he was underpinning a return to the Championship (and thereafter) he'd have come in four weeks before and we'd have shat out Porter, King, Doyle and the rest of the deadbeats already and bought in some sort of decent midfield robustness and craft, and some or other up-frontey who could smash in the goals?

pommpey
