Just outofinterest, like ... how come HRH came in a day after the STW closed?

They made the reasoning for that clear - they held off on the announcement because they believed all clubs we were trying to buy players off would drastically up their asking prices. Might not have happened much, but can absolutely understand the reasoning behind it. Made no difference on the Baxter deal though as I believe there was a minimum release clause a la McDonald.

I wonder if we are in the habit of inserting release clauses and sell on clauses for our lot now. or should we save the embarrassment until we have better players. We do, have Longy and the big guy who allegedly has the interest of Man Ure. and I love fairy stories and paper talk. Seriously though, should we insert release clauses into contracts offered to all our young up and comers?
You never know when the next two Kyles might break through but I'm not holding my breath.

Don'tcha think that if he was underpinning a return to the Championship (and thereafter) he'd have come in four weeks before and we'd have shat out Porter, King, Doyle and the rest of the deadbeats already and bought in some sort of decent midfield robustness and craft, and some or other up-frontey who could smash in the goals?

pommpey

Thank fuck he didn't rush things. The thought of Weir splashing the cash makes my blood run cold.

I've just seen the highlights and I don't think anyone's mentioned the open goal howler after Baxter's shot came back off the post.

I don't understand why he tried to control a ball flashing back off the post in the wet. I did think he looked bright though and probably a goal or 2 away from gaining confidence.

I guess Liverpool must be really embarrassed by having to Suarez a release clause in case they don't make the top 4 or in case Real and Barcelona come knocking.

It's the way of the world. If you want to keep players you have to do it.

Get used to it

Clough is doing a cracking job.

Best I've felt in terms of confidence in a manager since 3 years into Warnock's tenure .......... and that's after a month or so since our Nigel breezed in. I

believe he is the real deal and if you look at what HIS Derby squad is doing now, you can see the blueprint he has in mind. It's long term, it's sustainable, it's realistic and it works.

Solid, quality, professional and loyal.
His career suggests he is there for the long hall. Once he has a vision he follows through with it.

Just the right man for us IMHO
KM and The Prince got a real steal with this feller.

Merry Christmas and UTFB
