Not including bad misses or mistakes where there was a genuine attempt made (I'm looking at you Connor Sammon v Blackpool) but when something was so unbelievably stupid you couldn't understand how or why it happened.

Mine was when Luke Thomas lost an uncontested drop ball that led to Bournemouth scoring.

Luke Thomas still masquerading as a professional football gets me. Has to be up there as the worst left back I've ever seen.... yet boro loaned him after we dumped him off and then became pretty much a premier league regular for Leicester... probably one of the reasons they find themselves where they are... having to play absolute grifters like him.

God knows how he's a footballer, on a contract at Leicester until 2029 too. He's had four consecutive relegations:

22/23: Leicester PL relegation
23/24: Blades PL relegation
24/25: Leicester PL relegation
25/26: Leicester Championship relegation

I might be remembering it wrong, but that numpty Matos who after intensive training at Chelsea would regularly fall over and grab the ball to claim a free kick.

He then did it in our penalty area and gave away a penalty! Feckin idiot.
Was penalised for it twice in that game too, can't remember if the freekick for the same thing was before or after the penalty.

My mate smashing a referee one Sunday morning at a game in Handsworth (mid 70,s ) because the ref called him a racist slur the stupid thing was despite 5/6 lads who heard it and wrote statements Sheffield fa held a closed meeting and banned my mate for 6 months ffs .
Said the ref didn't say it !!! .
Not professional related but best I've ever seen apart from Billy dearden putting Charlie George on his arse 😀

Barry Robson pissing about and failing to take the corner before the ref blew for half time v Carlisle in 2013 is up there.

But that’s not as dumb as Thomas or Robinson.

Similarly, I remember Alan Cork taking a corner in the final seconds of a match in our relegation season. Just because he was nearest to the ball.

There was a murmur of discontent in the Kop as he lined it up, and sure enough he scuffed it horribly and the final whistle went straight away. Howls of derision ensued.

He could barely kick a ball and we played him in the bloody Premier League.

Oh and Kieron Wallace’s free kick….

The Rotherham lad who continued to pull Maguire's shirt at the Kop end despite being warned four times. The ref then had no option but to point to the spot.
Chris Morgan did the same thing. He was holding someone at a corner, the ref halted the corner to tell him he was watching him. Corner comes in, Morgan still holding him, penalty.
