Now I always thought that Warnock was obsessed with collecting strikers but DW is running him a close 2nd and I am. It sure what his plan is, especially as we are on a tight budget. We have;
Blackman
Cofie
Miller
Cressy
Porter
Kitson
And then
Ironside
Philliskirk
Tønne

I think that most agree that the big man fast man works best as a partnership and that, at the moment, Blackman is the quick man. I thought that Porter was out longer than he was and makes the decision to take Kitson on a short termloan a bit hard to understand. Miller, from most accounts seems to offer a bit of pace and height but hasn't been given a chance despite good reviews when he has come on. When Flynn and Doyle are back is there space on the subs bench for him or even for Cofie as it seems as though, porter, Cressy, Williams are guaranteed at least a place on the subs bench and some game time.
Will there be a chance for Whitehouse, Mcfazdean, Chappell etc even a place on the bench?

Miller certainly offers a bit of height. About 5-9, I think :)

Kitson is very easy to understand. He's a class above the others.

Quality counts; not quantity.

This club is still doing it wrong. Players like Williams, Kitson, Cresswell, Porter etc; are barely good enough to play this division so if we do get promoted (we still will have no money ) we are screwed because no youngsters have been brought through and we will get whipped. Sorry to sound like a barking dog but I feel this season should be sacrificed to bring the youngsters through. What's the point of this academy exactly? It's something else we have blown our money on yet we have left backs and strikers playing left wing, an attacking midfielder playing the holding role and a loan player in for the right. We are going to have more injuries and suspensions and soon there won't be enough square pegs or loans to help.

People will bark up that these youngsters are not good enough, but unless we see them in the 1st team you won't know. Vaughan was shit for Yorkshire but very good at international level. I was a Danny fan however I feel the tea lady will get a chance before some of these boys and we have gone straight back to the Blackwell era. If we do go up we will come straight back down.

I have to remind myself that we were utter shite scrambling results until around December last year so hopefully Danny will stumble across something or at least find his balls.

Hé probably is better but he is here just short term and is unfit ad by the time he is fit he will find a club in the Championship and we are left with disillusioned reserves

Presumably DW will field a young squad for the Johnson Paint trophy so the fringe players will get a chance to shine.

The worrying thing about that list is there isn't one of them that I would call prolific, or let's just say capable of bagging 25 this division

Blackman comes closest and I'm hoping he improves as the season moves on.

I would like to see Miller get a couple of starts. I think he offers something a bit different

But at the moment, it's looking like scoring goals might be our achilles heel

First big test next week and that game might tell us all something

So you are saying play the kids, don't go up,maybe struggle to finish mid table possibly even get relegation but that is OK because we are writing the season off to prove the point of having an academy.

Some of our fans wouldn't give the kids more than a handful of games before they started gettign on their backs and booing every touch.

Kitson not good enough ? He looks a class above what we have despite not being match fit.

Looking at yesterdays team,Gallagher on the wing(his 'preferred' position...the players words not mine),two central midfield players(this 'defensive' midfield role is a modern term, most central midfield players can defend) and Cresswell on the left hand side who was pushing up to make a '3'. The role he played at Stoke when they got promoted.

Williams came on and played left midfield(a role he has played at previous clubs) and again played OK.

On Michael Vaughan...scored over 16000 runs for Yorkshire with 42 hundreds and and 68 fifties and also took over 100 wickets. Not exactly 'shit'

It is not to prove a point but to give us an an identity. We need to bring kids through as there is no money and very likely never will be to make good signings. We need to bring them through because if we go up with this team it will not be significantly strengthened for us to stay up. If we don't go up and we haven't blooded any kids then it will be more than just a tick that Danny has failed McCabe with this year. He will have to go because that would be most of a youth side wasted without been given a chance.

I support Danny in most areas apart from this because by playing players out of position and not giving these lads a chance is sending a message to everyone at the club, ask Pemberton. You have to remember part of the reason why he was brought in was because he would bring players through. Currently after 15 months this stands at ZERO.

On Michael Vaughan, everyone can look up wiki and see he played 268 games for those at a moderate average of 36. Apologies as shit is not right, however Michael will tell you himself that his Yorkshire career was average and it was because Duncan Fletcher saw something in him rather than his County performances. People keep saying that our kids are not good enough just by watching them play in the u-21's etc;

Perhaps he's impressed in the appearances off the bench - I personally thought he was the worst striker out of the three that appeared yesterday.

We seem to have no stand-out striker at the mo. I don't think that's necessarily a problem - even when Evans came into the team last season it took some time before he hit prolific form. DW clearly had hopes Blackman & Cofie would be the main partnership. Can't imagine Miller will have been too chuffed yesterday - he's waited patiently, and the minute Porter's back fit he's bumped ahead in the queue.

And pig fan, so shit regardless.

The Blades academy has produced some very good defenders but it is not known for churning out good strikers.
I trust DW and his assistants would know if the youth are good enough to earn a place in the first team.

He's not a porker he's a Quorn banger: said he was a Man U supporter during the massive's slide down the leagues then rediscovered his roots just in time for promotion.

Sounds about right for a pig.
