Striker with best heading ability?

Jostien flo, the worst 6'+ centre forward when it comes to heading a ball, only player I know that got nearer the ground when attempting to head a ball.

Agree - but Flo also scored one of the best headed goals I have seen away at QPR. A cross with not much pace, he had to generate the pace and direction with a header from about 12 yards into the top corner. A great headed goal.

Other great headed goals:

Chief away at Wolves - similar to the Flo one.

John Francis naturally.

Didn't Flo get a similar one in the 1-2 win at Anfield too?

Booker v QPR to secure our place in the top flight
Jock v Forest (3-2 win same season)
Jock v Everton away (rose and hung for about 10 secs, brilliant header!)
Hodges v Luton
Hoyland v Palace
Deane v Man Yoo (1st prem goal)

Without a doubt the best I have seen is Mick Jones who seemed to hang in the air and could head it like a bullet with a flick of his head, that was when the game was played with proper leather casey's not the lightweight plastic of today.

I give you da da
The mighty Bill Punton. All of 4ft tall and scored the winner against the Pork, with his head!!
Also Keith Kettleborough was good in the air. But Mick Jones was the best I've ever seen along with Billy Dearden.

Got to remember over the years the ball has changed from a soggy cannon ball to a balloon but for me it's Doc Pace, 301 Apps and 175 goals.

Dean 270 (5) Apps 119 goals.
M. Jones 172 Apps 76 goals.

His high jump record is 2.07, but he allowed defenders to dominate him. When he was played right midfield for Norway it was partly because he would be marked by (smaller) left backs, but also that he was able to time his jumps better.

This photo was taken the other day. He's 52 now, but hasn't changed too much.

Thought Punton's goal against Wendy was a tap in? I have read and seen photos of Wendy's keeper, Peter Wicks, failing to hold an on target effort from one of our strikers and Punton was quick enough to poke the ball into the net

to a starry eyed 9 year old that was a fantastic glancing header from Deano's "replacement" to record our first away win of the season.

Oh, don't get me wrong Danester, celebrated with, and as much as, the rest (when the shock of it happening had subsided) and it was only seeing it again the next day that I realised how it had found its way in!

Don't remember their keeper, or indeed much of how it all unfolded, but I do remember him poking it in at the kop end (left hand side of the goal as you look at it from the kop) with no need to resort to his bald pate.
Peter Wicks played only 14 games for Wendy. Wendy had 5 keepers between 1965 and 1974 that were called Peter

Bloody ell Bergen he looks well, 52? I may have had a dig but he always came across as a good lad, whats he up to,still in the game?

I can remember the goal at the Kop end but strangely I recall it being on the right hand side as you look from the Kop.

Mention Bill Punton and most older Blades fans will remember a player who scored for us in a Sheffield derby victory. Bit like Bobby Davison.

Tap in or header? From the photos I saw it looked like a tap in

He was so small the difference between his feet and his head would have been minimal. He could have done both at the same time. :)

A big un who's good at heading will always stand out more than a little un. Sharp is a good header of the ball but it's not noticeable because he's small.

I'm surprised Marcelo hasn't had a mention. Thought he was a very good header of a ball. Same for D'Jaffo. In his book, Warnock, in typical Warnock fashion describes both Laurent D'Jaffo and Andy Booth as "the best header of a ball I've ever worked with".

Agree with Marcelo and Metal Mickey.

Gareth Taylor and Hulse up there.

Shipperley was surprisingly good in the air.
