Inspired by Bergen Blade - who pointed out the number of players at fault for one of Port Vale's goals last week. Our second goal was a real team effort.

Very good interception by Collins.

The ball breaks to their player who plays it into the corner.

Done covers, their player stumbles, the ball breaks free

Freeman has time to look up and pick a pass...

...up the line to Billy who is just about to work a miracle :):

First he gets in front of his man and controls the dropping ball, but he's facing back to our goal.

Then, obscured by the arrow, he flicks it over the foot of Mendez-Laing...towards a recovering Rochdale player.

.He retains possession but there are two men on him.

upload_2015-10-11_16-41-25.png

He bursts forwards leaving the men behind and creates space, but there's not much on is there?

Yes there is if you can do it. He plays a fantastic crossfield diagonal ball over the Rochdale right back. Adams "still has plenty to do" but it only takes him two touches to do it.

The first touch with the outside of his right foot he cuts inside and the defender is totally out of the game.

The second touch he puts it past the oncoming goalkeeper and into the net.

A great team goal.

(The first one was pretty good too.)

Keep up with the program.. Collins is wank :p

Great counter attack, two passes was enough. Fantastic touch by Adams.

Our first goal was a six pass move, where we show some composure and patience, get them sucked out of position, and then punish them.

Excellent OP.

Magnificent defending by Collins in a dangerous situation.

Billy Sharp showcased all his qualities in his contribution - running, strength, positional sense, control, awareness and the main quality he has as a footballer i.e. the ability to get his head up under pressure. He spotted Adams' run and of course delivered the perfect 50 yard crossfield ball. Billy Sharp is not just a goalscorer, throughout his career he has provided so many assists and he will top our "assist league" this season for sure.

As quite a few have said, Sharp seems a lot more 'all rounded' in his play this time with us. Not only is he a threat for opposition in and around the 6 yard box, the majority of our good play goes through him in games with him holdig the ball up, flicking it on etc. I don't think he has dropped down and found his level, he'll be a big player for us in the championship too, providing we get there before he retires ;)

Watching again on BP all I've seen so far in the first half is a steady performance - with the occasional well-timed intervention - from a steady Division 3 CH rather than the gruesome horror show he apparently puts on the rest of the time.

It is fair comment though that his distribution was generally poor, this may be bc of the runs in front of him - hard to say.

McEveley otoh had a bit of a mare eg remember that throw in to Done who had his back turned?

Collins is definitely an asset at this level. If we were to bring in another CB however, where would that leave him?

I know Basham is a CM but what about him at CB with Edgar until we get one? Could Coutts and Baxter be a good enough centre pairing or part of a narrow 3?

I think if we continue with Adams, Sharp & Done up top, over time they will be lethal.

Something like this at full strength maybe??
Howard
Brayford Basham Edgar Harris
Coutts Baxter Reed
Done Sharp Adams

No lines or arrows?

3 / 10.

I remember saying when the ball was played to Sharp where the F' is the support? Nobody (baring Adams) were breaking out from the back and Sharp had to be "world class" to create the chance with some great work from Adams to finish it off.

99/100 we do not score there we need more players breaking out for the counter, however this was the one time and was a great goal.
