Stop Moaning!

There's too much emphasis on the deadline day of a transfer window that is open for 3 months. All the build up and excitement that is generated mainly by Sky gets fans into a frenzy.
The reality is that we've signed 10 players this transfer window. We have mainly picked up young and hungry players from lower down the pyramid with a point to prove, but also a few steady players with championship experience. We have cover in most positions, and still have a some cash left over if it is required in January. CW said he wouldn't be 'spunkin moneh' for the sake of it, and what he and Ak are building at the lane is something that cannot be bought.

But - just like Chris Wilder I suppose - saved us from financial meltdown and oblivion caused by others (unless you read the Daily Mail, believe in or are a fan/creator of fake news).

Yep. Just like us selling our best player, he sold of the gold reserves.

Not quite on a par with Black Wednesday, the Fire Sale and Council House debacle that was just a fraction of Thatcher's asset-stripping madness and the creation of the massive wealth gap epitomised by the farce that is the Premier League!!!

If there is anything more tedious than people moaning its the threads telling people to stop moaning.

We need pace and we didn't get it. We are allowed to be unhappy at that.
As the players run out of the tunnel the sign says "strength through adversity" I sometimes wonder if they should stick the same quote up in the stands as we enter. Ok we haven't got a lightning fast striker. Are you enjoying the football? There you go. Try and smile a bit more.

As an after-thought:
If we'd got Mendez-Laing from Rochdale on a free, good signing or lack of ambition?

I think pace at our level is over-rated. For every Bale, who has the strength, skill and speed of thought to go with his pace, there are are dozens who make it through junior football and into league football because of pace, but then disappoint because the final shot, centre or pass leads nowhere. You get the occasional good game from them, but not the consistency. It is too easy to be impressed by one performance against us, or by highlights on tv.

I remember Adrian Littlejohn having pace. That's all I remember.....

Nice one, and an absolute no brainer after he ran us ragged at their place.

Exactly the type of player we are lacking and could have been the difference between us making the top six or finishing mid table or less.

While I'm disappointed that some of our signings didn't happen ,
After watching the video of " what went on behind the scenes " ,
It seems that our lack of ambition club , did actually want to sign , players with pace ,
but wouldn't be ridden rock solid by agents , or should we pay over the odds like the pigs ,
just to satisfy some fans , who would then rightly criticise the club when ticket prices
went up like them gobshites up the road , or have no kits ( unless you get one from IKEA )
Or pay for season tickets for the premier league ,
or get a nice shiny plaque for the uncertified death trap to put on your rickety seat .
Our clubs not perfect by a long stretch , and leaves a bit to be desired .
For all those going to the sty , let us know what you think of your seat and the ground .
That's if you get back alive .

It's not the worst window we've seen but it's disappointing that we couldn't get other deals over the line. As usual. Take out the angst and despair comments from the anti McCabists and sackcloth wearers and it seems there's a general feeling of being underwhelmed. The more even minded will look at the "spending power in the championship" comment and concede it's not happened, but without wetting themselves. For me that comment was pretty unequivocal, unlike others that were open to interpretation, and will be difficult to explain away, regardless of agents, luck or anything else.

I posted a couple of weeks ago the extra income this year plus sell on fees will likely balance the budget and suggest that there has been little if any further investment since the start of the season. Which is worrying. We know have to squabble until January to see if the words were spoken with forked tongue. Hopefully not.

I believe KM has also stated that HRH spent a great deal more to get out of Division Three than was agreed or anticipated and that would inevitably affect the level of spending (at least initially) in the Championship?

On the wider point, of course people are entitled to express disappointment, but if they do so in terms of complete nonsense and personal malice in furtherance of an agenda, they ought to expect to be answered back. Some people are very keen on their right to have a say, but not so enthusiastic about the rights of others to respond appropriately.

do we need pace as 99% of the time we get down the wings then fanny around playing it back side ways then back to the wings it works as we are sitting in 5th place
If we're 5th in may we will have exceeded my ambition for this season, anything after that is a bonus

I couldn't believe my eyes reading through some of the threads this morning. We seem to be an incredibly negative bunch.

This season we have got off to a great start. Better than everyone expected and playing some entertaining football to boot.
The last time we were in this division we frittered the last of our money on expensive loan signings whilst enduring turgid football from players who in the main couldn't have cared less if we stayed up or not.

There have been a number of seasons where we didn't sing one player's name such was the general malaise around the club.

Think back to those times and realise how much more enjoyable match day is now.

We won't go down this season. We have a manager and a group of players who will fight for every point and you never know might surprise us. We will get beaten some weekends. We might take a drubbing or two.

We should still be extremely happy. There are 24 clubs in this division and we can name 10 where the smell isn't right at the moment and the fans are worried. There's one not far from us where the fans would love to be watching our football every week
.

We haven't got Deane and Agana up front but we have a club worth supporting. That makes me happy.

So what's your point?

Can't agree with you there mate ...... other than Brooks & Baldock , we are quite a pedestrian team.

It is without a doubt (imho) our biggest weakness and will hold us back in this Division ...... it was bad enough in the last one.

True, I guess we took a pedestrian stroll to 100 points.

What's with people?...I'm having ball so far this season. We are really taking the game to so called "superior" teams and it's so obvious we've got nothing to fear in this league at all.

Some have an axe to grind constantly and lurk just under the surface waiting for the slightest negative event to happen so they can continue.
Some of the serial moaners on here and other forums haven't been near the Lane in years and are unlikely to do so whatever happens. It's almost as if they jump on any negative to justify their decision and give them an opportunity to basically say 'I told you so, this is why I stopped going!'
