That is the first away performance for years, where a team didn't deliberately shithouse and time waste.

There was a single episode where their keeper faffed about and the wanker in lime had a word, but that was all. Full credit to them for pushing for a second rather than sitting back. Michael O'Neil references it in his post match comments and I reckon that approach will ensure they win more than they lose.

It made for a decent game of football played in a good spirit and obviously 2 late goals sent us home happy.

I actually think stoke were stetting up to shithouse and close that game out by bringing surridge and fletcher on upfront two big target men. We scored the goals at the right time to prevent that happening. Nothing against stoke for doing that by the way they were on for a positive result against a newly relegated side we’d do the same and up until that point they had played a significant part in what was an entertaining game.

I agree - but I suspect the shithousery was coming in the last ten minutes, especially with Fletcher coming on. I guess that would be understandable to an extent by that point of the game.

I thought it was an excellent game to watch between two good sides who play two different styles. Stoke are strong and physical but they’re direct rather than long ball, they play the percentages well and have some very good players in Sawyers, Vrancic and Powell. I think they will be in or very close to the Play Off positions come the end of the season so it’s a very good three points for United.

Fully agree, I said to my Dad that I was impressed with them for that, though I was expecting them to time waste more as it got to the final 10 minutes, which is to be expected.

I posted in the Shoutbox before our equaliser that they were playing all the football since their goal - they we still going forward and fashioning chances rather than sitting back, falling over etc.

I admire them for what the OP says but if they did shithouse they’d have probably walked away with at least a point. It’s a crap way to look at it but some teams are allowed to get away with it, it should be stamped out of the game, there should be no warnings, just book the fuckers straight away.

Good OP and I completely agree.

As much as I dislike Stoke as a club, they have a very decent manager and a good looking team this year. They will be in the mix for autos come May and the return fixture is going to be a very tough game.

Maybe, maybe not. When we shithouse it always seems to go badly. I think that half the time teams would be better continuing to play football and creating chances, rather than say dribbling into the corner, which to me is akin to waving a flag that says "we have no intention of playing any more football this afternoon, why don't you have a go at creating an equaliser?"

I agree about instant bookings etc., of course.

still get labelled with the big physical team from the Pulis days but they’ve got some very good players, they were well on top after they scored but our subs saved the day
Very good match and I would expect Stoke to be challenging for the playoffs along with us

Some of their players are enormous! Harry Souttar in particular.

That finish by Fletcher was something else by the way. Took it down and then bent it into the top corner from distance on his left peg. Had he been onside it would have been worthy of winning any game. Thank God it wasn't 🐷 !

Who was their left wing back? Cracking player. Sawyers always quality.

When I saw the size of their entire team I feared their gameplan.

In fairness though they played far more football than I expected. Some the big lads at the back had good feet too.

Soutter plucked one ball out of the sky with a great deft touch.

A nod to Fletcher too for his disallowed 'goal', we were right behind it and he curled it into the corner beautifully. Didn't know he had that in his game.

On the warm-ups he didn't miss a single one and could skim it, hammer it, curl it - they were all perfect. It gave me that dreaded 'hes nailed on' feeling and I was relieved when he didn't start + his substitution was delayed.

Thought they were good, not over physical for thier "over" size..

Tbh I don't go big on knowing other teams managers etc, but the manager must be a decent one, they played well and tried to win..

We've seen too many teams come and shit house themselves to a point and credit to Stoke for coming to take all three points..

I like it that we won, and I said we weren't out of it when we were under the cosh after thier goal, would have been OK with a draw, they're a good side..

See them at the play offs..

We're still labelled by some fans as a kick and rush team from Bassett era

If he was 5 years younger he'd be a great signing for us, pig or not. He's everything I'd hoped Mcburnie would be.

Agree….that was the irony of the game.

We we’re looking good then they scored against the run of play, a great goal from nothing.
When other teams have scored….they’ve then become even more defensive, gone over physical breaking up momentum with general time wasting going down injured every 2 minutes.

I expected Stoke to do the same but credit to their manager, they obviously have confidence in their ability. They pushed us back trying to go 2-0 up.
It become an open entertaining game with Stoke looking the more likely team to score.

I even said to my mate, “if we lose this game 0-1 it’s still been a good game to watch and we’ve not played that badly`’

Then we bring on Mouset who looks good, then bring on McGoldrick who was brilliant, helping us score 2 quick goals to win the match.
Our equaliser was a great goal but it was agaisnt the run of play, before the substitutions we’d run out of ideas and didn’t look like scoring.

Many might say a draw would have been fair but overall we were the busier slightly better team. If any team deserved to win, it was us.
