Gary Mabbutt, was saying what a great player he was for youngsters to emulate on the radio this morning, I agree if you are talking of his play if you disregard the cheating and occasional serious foul play. I think what happened inside Gerrard's head was that he started believing the hype about himself because he never moved from Liverpool. It cannot be denied that he almost single-handedly turned the European Cup Final in Liverpool's favour when they won it and I can't even remember if he dived to win the penalty or not?

I think Gerrard's lack of brains was a key factor in the barren years of the England team when he was playing in it.

Not sure how Shearer could have been left out. Easily infront on the all time scorers list. Think he's 73 infront of Andy Cole. How Dennis Bergkamp can be in over him is beyond me.

Shearer mad a massive mistake in joining Newcastle. He could've won so many more titles if he had left Blackburn for Man Utd.
