I've not been to a match since we signed him.
Does he look any good? Better than what we've got?

Saw him against Fleetwood and yesterday at Scunny and for me, he adds nothing to the team. If anything, with him coming in, Clough seems determined to play Done and him and because of that we now play 4-4-2 which IMO isn't working. So for me, ill drive him back to Blackpool to get rid.

Oh dear.

My Blackpool supporting mate summed him up as a decent hold-up, link player but at the end of the day, a non-scoring striker.

Hes played 2 games ,done Ok but you want to drive him back to Blackpool. With fans like you ,we will go a long way
Murphy was crap for his first 2 games ,could you have afforded the petrol back to Scotland ?

Over his career, he's scored 47 goals from 126 starts. The fact he's made so many appearances from the bench makes it hard to tell how good (or not) his ratio is. If you average each sub appearance as 1/3 of a game, he scores 1 in 3(ish) which isn't too bad.

Can you drop him after you have taken Baxter to Liverpool

Due a goal tomorrow then :)

Not been impressed myself, however I thought he stepped up in the last 20 minutes against Scunthorpe. If Done and Davies is to work, hey need to work closer together.

I thought he would have more pace, and I see he has already got the nickname of ' Left footed Chris Porter'

Loads of injuries but it does beg the question why is he so often on the bench.

Interesting snippet from his write-up:

Clough stated his intent to improve Davies conditioning for the 2010–11 season, stating "He will be back in training on 1 June, four weeks before everybody else." Davies subsequently damaged his cruciate ligaments in pre-season training and was ruled out for a further six months.

Sitters, Studentblade is as passionate as they come when discussing a Blade, you can take my word for that. Perhaps a tad quick to denounce Davies after 2 games - problem is, we are not making progress as the season comes to an end and we have yet another major shift in moving to a 4-4-2 formation. Not convinced we have the players to play a 4 in midfield. The team is once again re-inventing or morphing itself which is resulting in all the differing opinions we are now getting. We shouldn't be having this type of discussion at this stage of the season.

Supported Clough from minute 1, but he isn't helping the situation by changing yet again how we play - it's all so frustrating. I go back to my main issue - we do not have, and haven't had all season, a defence that is settled and it puts pressure on in other areas. We should have won on Saturday - yet didn't due to poor and simple defending - or lack of it.

Seriously ?....I thought he played well on Saturday especially in the 2nd half where his movement caused their centre half problems and led to the two chances for Holt (i.e creating space for others). Done was starting to link up well with him towards the end of the game.

You obviously didn't notice but it wasn't a 4-4-2 on Saturday but despite that, why on earth you would make negative judgement on a player after only two games when he has played reasonably well is beyond me especially when there are other issues in the team to resolve

If Ogrady had been allowed to join and J Wallace had been fit we would have gone this way a while ago ,but to denounce a player after 2 games (when he hasn't done bad) saying get rid and I would drive him back is bonkers. If 2 games is the benchmark now ,where do we go from here ,get rid if they have a bad warm up ?

Exactly. He had a really good game Saturday. Foulkes Jr Sr pointed out that he often controls the long ball up to him and works with it, rather than heading it on.

This was how he created a good chance for Holt, which I think you can see on YouTube.

Looked like a good acquisition. A better version of Higdon and O'Grady.

Comes with a reputation as a Mardy Bum and there was some evidence of that which could upset the dressing room.

What was the formation Saturday? It seemed asymmetrical to me. Not a 4-5-1 or a 4-4-2. I couldn't make it out.
I thought it was more of a 4-3-3 at the start with the midfield playing narrow and trying to play the channels

Scunny changed tactics in the second half and packed midfield so we couldn't dominate as much but we didn't adapt quickly enough which meant we didn't get many chances until the last 15 minutes of that half

When I 1st saw the team against Fleetwood, I couldn't believe Clough was going 442, and in my mind I thought Matty Done would play the Scougall role. I don't see what he adds on the right hand side, and he would add energy to the middle of the park like Scougs when he dropped back in or join Davies. It would give us a greater amount of flexibility, swapping him with Murphy etc

I would rather hire a train (or two or three with many carriages attached) to transport our Negative, Whinging, Whining, Pathetic so called excuses of supporters as far away as possible from BDTBL

I hope to god that NC is not driving that thing if some of the moronic statements on here are to be believed.....

Well if he is driving, no harm will come to the many passengers hanging on, as the train will spend most of its journey shunting forward, back and sideways about the marshalling yard, before maybe making a latish push forward to the destination. According to some anyway.

If Nigel's driving it will be like an Italian tank one forward gear and six reverse.

Davies played well second half, one of only two United players to come out of a dreadful game with any credit imo (the other was Reed).

Tell me you were pissed when you wrote this?
