The stats might have them looking identical but they're quite different players. Alzate is much more agile with the ball. Not that I'm sure he's the must sign, best replacement option for us

Yeah, not quite as good at passing, but a better ball carrier. Apart from that, they match up very closely in a lot of areas.

I suppose MORE ball recoveries is key, because when it boils down to it, that's 90% of Souza's role.

Hasn't Doyle gone to Brum yet?
I'm still holding out hope we swoop in.
There is literally no point signing Doyle and Alzaate and pushing for promotion as both would need to be replaced on promotion. Both signings would just make us incredibly light weight in the middle of the park and a team that would get run all over and bullied by the likes of Oxford and Millwall.
Tiny players only at Sheff Utd it seems

Shall we worry about that after promotion?
We're in our final parachute year, we need to go up.

I think Alzate's 6ft.

I get that, but haven’t we just got rid of Wilder because he only builds ‘good championship’ style sides who can’t cope with the step up? Looks like we are just going to do the same but with a more inexperienced ‘coach’. Also had hoped that we wouldn’t be using the new coach’s old players - again something we have seen before and criticised other managers for??? Had hoped to be fishing in a slightly bigger and better pond than Alzaate?

Wilder builds winning teams made up of players who can see his plans through. He doesn't improve players and we rarely see stand out individuals under him. He creates system teams where all decisions are already made for the players before they take to the pitch.

The club wants us to have more individually talented players who can be developed and coached so that they improve. They want a £3mil player who ends up looking like a £10mil+ player. This is what they've brought Selles in for and there may be a drop in points in the interim.

The long terms benefit is that you're more likely to stay up if you have individuals who can produce moments of quality rather than a team who focus on being defensively solid and huff and puff and try to grind down teams into a scrappy win.

Thought promotion was the aim, can't afford to stay down another season
