Sheffield United playing by the rules, where's that ever got us?
On a different note, I have had to reassess my thoughts on football while we've been here in league one, I used to be of the mindset that we needed quality signings from higher levels to get out of this league and then instantly consolidate in the next division up by having the players already used to that environment ..
Not so now, I think that the biggest mistake we could make as a club is to be promoted without taking a few young league two/one up and coming players with us, as some body told me years ago, we need to get the best young talent from this division not the old tried and tested names from the past, I've seen Greg Halford talked about this week, I get what that poster was telling me many moons ago now...
Where's the next deli Ali, let's spend big on the next ones we can scout that have that kind of potential, these players you'd think are hard to come by but they're not, we've had opportunities to sign many players who have gone onto bigger things, Jamie Vardy being the most glaring mistake for most clubs in this region, they are out there, we could start looking at the Manchester clubs youth teams now, cause they'll be talented players, who'll sadly get no chance unless they're the next messi.. Just a thought...
Said it on another thread, our manager has a history of turning out a decent player from nowhere, add the guile, pace and drive of a couple of good young ones to the grit of Hammond, sharp and Brayford and we might just have the beginnings of a "team" and just not a big squad.... UTB
