I have been a Wilder fan but I am coming to the point where I think he is yesterday's man. Ever since we got promoted to EPL in 2019 our recruitment has been really poor under Wilder. Is that him or our recruitment department? If the latter he still has to take overall responsibility. Look at teams like Coventry who were largely a selling club in the Champ but always seemed to replace with as good or better and got promoted without parachute payments. CW's recruitment this season (albeit he has been made to sell our best players) has shown no imagination or unearthed any gems (apart from Donovan). I would love to see a younger Rising star. But look how many new managers we had in L1. If you get recruitment wrong you end up with Selles or Adkins. Maybe we are better with the devil we know!
I agree - I love so much about Wilder. But - I think he’s run out of ideas. He’s been here a long time now & he’s just not as fresh & ambitions as he was in 2016. However I see no chance or point of replacing him before the end of the season. Our owners have shafted us all - conned people out of season ticket money before the summer firesale of Hamer & O’Hare are clearly hoping to just stabilise this season while balancing the books. Plus we may have new owners or investment bye next summer. So I don’t think Chris will leave before the end of the season. I don’t think dwindling on the day attendances or fans vocal will impact the owners or Wilders decisions atall.

Look at how well our owners are when it comes to dealing with manager issues!
First they sack Wilder.
Then then recruit Selles. Who was a disaster and has been a disaster everywhere hes been since.
Then they bring Wider back. Who they starve of funds.
Whoever they bring in if he gets fired will have the same lack of funds.

Im always of the opinion if you are uncertain of what to do ........dont do anything.

We don't actually know though on other options which is the problem to your point. We don't know the budget, who turned us down etc. I'd agree re Shackleton because he was signed when we did have a bigger budget. The rest from this summer or January are much harder to know. We know Wilder said some players had turned us down in the summer gone.

We do t know how high the wages are neither on your point on high wages. They had big wages previously but they doesn't mean big wages when they signed.

In my opinion I do think we could benefit from a director of football who knows the foreign markets but there's little point if we don't have the budget to sign quality foreign players neither! There's a lot of average players abroad who are no getter than what we have.
We don’t know the budget, so we also don’t know that we’ve maximised it to get the best players. So there’s opinion and supposition in both our opinions.

In terms of the high wages comment, I was referring to what we’d spend IF we had more money. I have no idea if we’re paying high wages now. I’d expect we’re top 10 in terms of wages paid, but with very little future value in the signings we’ve made.

Also agreed that not all foreign players are better than what we’ve got, but if we never look outside of these shores, we’ll never find out!

If Wilder does go - I’d go for Cooper - only 46 years old. Decent record & good integrating younger players into the first team. So unless we suddenly get a load of new investment he may be our best option post Wilder.

If Wilder has more resources then we'd be a better team. It's really that simple I'm my book. I know many feel that he's wasted our budget on experienced players who are limited but to get really good players you have to spend some decent cash on transfer fees. The better league one players for example will set you back more than £4m these days, certainly the attacking players.

Louie Barry is class at League One level but look how he failed in the championship. I know you've not mentioned league one players but many do.

If from abroad then again, you're going to need some serious cash. I don't think Wilders signings are alternatives to these players but rather the best we could get. This is where I am most Wilder critics disagree.

We could get a top premier league manager and I do t think we'd be much different to now unless the budget was higher. The best sides in this league have spent some serious cash now it in the past. There's lots of teams below us who've also done that and are floundering.
Wilder with cash to spend? 🤣 Brewster and Cannon spring to mind. The narrative was he was better with limited resources, even that is looking more and more suspect.

Wilder is the best person to dig us out of the shit, we have charlatans as owners and I'm not talking about Tim Burgess and his mates... cus they have a great sense of humour, and can bang a tune out.

We have owners without a pot to piss in, it's gonna get worse before it gets better, and to those who dislike him (me included) he's exactly what we need, dont chase him out..

When we hit league one, we will need CW for the reboot.
Give it to Tim until the end of the season…

All you have to look at is what Cooper did with Forest! He is very much highly regarded by the England set up at youth level and he does trust youth players! So it's a big 👍 me!!!

Steve Cooper? Been out of work a bit now, might be up for it? Didn't set the world on fire at Leicester or Bronby but did well at Swansea on a frees and loans only restriction, not to mention getting Forest off the bottom of the Champ to the PL?

To be fair he did his Job at Leicester, set the world on fire he did not but but we were not in the bottom 3 when he left. Gets a harder time than he should do because of his style of play not matching our fans ethos and being ex Forest.

Not that I think Wilder is about to go anywhere

Cannon signed by the board. I think that's fairly well established. I take your point on Brewster. Wilder did but sign Berge though who was a decent signing and I'd say McBurnie paid off his fee given he was crucial to promotion under Hecky.

Don't think being an ex Tree shagging manager makes any difference tbh, let's not forget we had Nigel Clough and Danny Wilson here previously.

Without getting into it all, our scouting and recruitment under Wilder has been nothing short of shambolic!

The club is going through the motions and we’ll see how the scouting and recruitment of recent times will set the club back a very long time unless we get someone with a clue on how to do it on a very tight budget.

If we don’t get the required personnel in then we’ll have to start trusting more of the youngsters, players who can actually move and get about the pitch a bit better, Wilder isn’t the man for that as he trusts experience more, even though some of our experienced players can barely play or shift anymore, It’s a sorry state of affairs.

Wilder is doing about right for the squad we have isn't he? Sold the main attacking threat and not replaced them and sitting above mid-table.
Let’s take another look at your post in late December

Cannon was a Wilder target that Summer he wanted him towards the window end - Prince had nowt left
It was Wilder who then ( with striker injuries taking priority over centre half worries) wanted Cannon so the new owners backed him in January
Every signing is backed by the board ffs
This again is a Wilder target that the board then backed him with
Your post is yet another poor attempt at diverting the truth - hes shyte with money
Ps - everything I have stated above was in local press national and on social media even Cannon stating that when Stoke Boro and United enquired for him on loan in the summer he would have chosen us but we had to withdraw interest

Used to be keen on Cooper but I do wonder if knowing the England youth teams helped his early tenures. He no longer knows the youth players, and only likely to attract those that haven't got close to filling their potential. And Wilder could already sign them as projects...

Wilder is going sooner or later. The only problem we have with the longer he stays is the fact that some of our fans are turning their back on the club. Our attendances are dropping even season ticket holders are picking and choosing the home games they go to. The longer he stays it puts the long term future of the club at stake.
Saturday was the perfect example of how fans are starting to vote with their feet. We were coming off 2 wins out of the 3 previous games and the match was pretty much a local derby. County filled the away end which means there weren't 24k Blades in the ground. The last few seasons a full away end pretty much meant a 29k attendance so there were 2-2.5k less fans in the ground.

This isnt all down to Wilder as the owners ripped the creativity out of the team in the summer but our style of football isnt helping. Some massive decisions coming up in the next 12 months as if the owners dont change something (budget or manager) this gradual decline in both attendances and interest will continue.

there wasnt 24k blades in the crowd more like 20/21k with absent season ticket holders and probably less than 2k potd fans your right blades fans are answering with their feet and cash and our away support is embarrasing

Our away support is fantastic considering the shit that’s going off at the club and in life in general.

People get bored easier of going to the same grounds which they’ve been to countless times when they feel they aren’t getting much back in terms of value and entertainment, I know I do.

I’ll go to Charlton and QPR again as I like the away day in general down at those places but I’ll be trying to pick and choose more these days instead of going and blindly following. It costs a bastard fortune for a day out too if you do the full shabang like I love to do. I reckon some fans get themselves in financial difficulties following the Blades all over unless they are well off which is not ideal at all and can lead to all sorts of problems.

If you’re going to slag the fans off when there are a million things wrong before them then at least put a case forward. Also, watch those cunts drop off too now they aren’t steam rollering teams like most of them kept saying they would do, idiots!

The thing is a decline in attendances means less money to invest in the team or infrastructure which if allowed to carry on becomes a downward spiral.

Say what you want about the McCabe/Warnock years we were regularly getting crowds of around 13,000 but by the time Warnock left we had more than doubled attendances to over 30,000.

A decade's worth of effort and hard work can be thrown away in a few years, it is much harder to get people to return.

Maybe you see the tree huggers as rivals we don't, our rivals are in the same city.

Yes I do know.

If you follow the conversation someone said regarding Steve Cooper "He didn't pull up any tree's at Leicester" (quite a good unintentional pun actually) and I said I thought he did his job at Leicester while being unspectacular and was unfortunate to get sacked, sighting his style of football and his ex Forest connection turning the fans on him from the start as a reason opposed to him managing the team poorly. Therefore I wouldn't look at his time at Leicester as a reason not to employ him at Sheffield United. I have not for a minute suggested Forest and The Blades are rivals.

I am in a minority with that one though most of them hate him.

im not slagging the fans off im slagging the club and the football we are currently playing whether you like it or not its affecting our attendances home and away and hate to say it but pigs will continue to sell out away games no matter how badly their playing thats a fact i think the real issue at the lane is the apathy from the board and the unatractive football we are playing under wilder

They didn't sell out all of last seasons away games even though it was their farewell tour. As for them saying took 5/6k away last season, I didn't know our bottom tier held that much.

He has a 75% win rate at his current club AEK Larnaca and has them top of the Cypriot league.......P8, W6, D1, L1......gerrim back!
