Giv n he was very outspoken over the promises made when he got the job with us I can't see him lasting there. I remember being at a fans forum with Bruce when he let rip at the club..it wasn't subtle either and when we talked to him at the bar he called them a set of tight arsed cunts

He was lied to and somewhat duped in to taking our job in fairness. I remember a transfer kitty of £5m mentioned but I’m not sure he really spent anything. Anyone got a list of ins and outs? He saw the season out, which may have been more for his own benefit than ours, and then fucked off when a better off came in. If your employer is a lying arse then they deserve no loyalty. Why people think he owes the fans something I’m not quite sure. I bet he got moaned at more than cheered.

If Bruce is coming then it probably means he'll be spending because he doesn't go anywhere without spending big money, At Villa to buy more established players near the end of their 20's and beyond. He'll no doubt go for Elmohamady as he has done recently. He could improve Wednesday but I can't see it ending with success, more high wage players coming for inflated fees.

Thats it though isn't it, Wendy have made it clear that unless they go up this season they are in deep financial trouble, they need a warnock type not Bruce, be interesting to see how he does manage without a budget and just wheeling and dealing, maybe, because he has to, he may turn out to be ok, doubt it myself and the Wendy lads I have spoken with aren't impressed by the appointment either, we shall see, as an individual I don't dislike him unlike most blades.

Yes, you're right. Bruce was contacted a while ago through a third party, and although he was interested in the job it depended upon the transfer kitty, as you rightly say. That hurdle has now been "overcome", and they're simply quibbling about his contract. How he's got the audacity to quibble about a £2M deal like that is beyond me. But what really confuses me is how Chansiri has managed to increase the turnover to allow him to spend again. Answers on a postcard please.

Points deduction on its way to s6 then

A wounded animal. I hope Gary Sinclair's less than subtle announcement pre-half time doesn't come and bite us on the backside in March.

Yes and no for me on this. Undoubtedly he didn’t have the investment that was promised him, but for me that doesn’t excuse a number of bizarre tactical decisions throughout:
  • Continuing to play himself despite him really struggling, culminating in the embarrassment of being put on his arse repeatedly by Michael Bridges in his final ever game
  • Sticking rigidly to a 4-4-2 when Borbokis & Quinn had excelled as wingbacks – they were never as effective as full-backs for us
  • Bizarrely refusing to use Dellas either in defence or midfield when he’d impressed – “what has he got against Dellas?” was a constant topic for Unitedites, and by the time Heath had arrived Dellas had already opted to move on having been overlooked for most of the season
  • Jonathan Hunt
  • The rumoured fallout with David Holdsworth with infamous “you’ll never be half the player I was” comment
I’m sure plenty of the above was partly down to it being his first job, but I don’t think it was all completely due to him not having any cash.

Fair comment. I was living away during that season so didn’t see us play much and wasn’t privy to any gossip.

I didn’t get to see the joy of Hunt. He did land us Michael ‘the best Man U youth prospect since Giggs’ Twiss. I saw him once I think and was very underwhelmed.

Which reminds me, he constantly bigged up his links with Ferguson and how we could use those to loan some decent youngsters. Twiss was the sole talent...

Man deserves a lot of respect man united captain and very decent manager

Once again we have to disagree.

He is a serial quitter. After quitting us he has walked out on Palace and (Wigan twice).

Any Blade giving that twat the time of day, needs their bumps feeling.

What niggled me was how he and Huddersfield lied. He walked out on us and walked into that, it was obvious it was all pre-arranged. As I remember United tried to take it further but got nowhere as they couldn’t prove anything.

Say what you like about broken promises from us. At the end of the day Bruce showed his true character. Someone who will not think twice about screwing someone over to achieve his own ends. he’ll fit in well at the Swill.

He’s a manager who can’t operate without a big budget. I hope he’s given that while he’s there.

They’re already deep in the shit with FFP. The ladyboy must have invented another couple of fictitious companies to get around his two million a year plus the mega millions he’ll be expecting to create another mediocre Championship side aka Villa.

It’ll catch up with them soon enough. Hopefully a straight relegation in view of their corrupt cheating and disregard for the rest of the division who try to compete fairly.

But, once again, why would Brucie get involved with a club likely to be so punished? He's not going to take Chansiri at his word; if we know he's as slippery as soap on a door handle, then so will Brucie. His brief would have Chansiri over in 5 minutes if there truly were no kitty and the club were docked points. Blades fans are arguing about whether he was sufficiently backed in his time at the Lane, but he obviously didn't think he was, and I wasn't happy about it at the time. That's a long time ago. I just don't see him returning to the same city all these years - and all that money - later to end up in the same situation. I'm sure there'll be a sizeable kitty, but how Chansiri will have been able to flout P&S/FFP goodness only knows. It's over my head, that's for sure.

Or, as my brother-in-law has just said, while ever "Sir Dave" is around.

It's as if some people have no recollection of Bruce's employment record. I mean, suggesting that Bruce is a decent manager is like suggesting that homelessness is exaggerated. Use the evidence that's all over Google before making daft comments. The only slack I'd cut Bruce during his time at United was that we had a chairman (McDonald) who, even by our standards, was pretty appalling.

Steve "I don't really do tactics" Bruce is a dinosaur. He's the affable version of Hughes, Pardew, Keane, Allardyce.

His mates in the press and the players he played against love him and never point out the mess he's left everywhere he's been.

I an genuinely delighted they are even considering him

Why would he give a shit if you've got money or not ?
He will be on a beach in a few months waiting for his contract to get paid up
Sounds to me like your chairman's having his pants pulled down again
