Step up McBurnie

If he does start the next match then he needs to learn from Baldock about seizing his chance. This could be good man management in that he had a good cameo against Birmingham and now another longer one tonight. This could be Hecky challenging him after Birmingham and telling him that one good performance isn't enough, despite recent injuries, and that he's got to do this everytime. Now that Mousset is gone, Brewster is out for the season and Didsy is crocked too, this is his chance to seize the shirt and keep it. With Ndiaye and MGW he could finally get the service to feet that he thrived with at Swansea.

He genuinely doesn’t do anything I couldn’t do. Comes on runs about half heartedly, pretends to close down, barges into players, gives free kicks away, wins free kicks, loses some headers, wins some headers. Sometimes he controls it and lays it off (like anyone in this league can do) sometimes he couldn’t control a medicine ball, to pass he scoops/pushes the ball a lot more than he kicks it normally. He really is poor even if he was a 500k purchase, but this is a £20 million player we are talking about here, someone who should be playing every week, creating chances, scoring plenty of goals, in reality that’s never happening as he’s bobbar and anyone who says differently are his day ones, the ones who have shouted from the high heavens what a player he is, they are too far in now, there is no going back and saying I’m wrong he’s shite, so they keep doubling down all in the hope somehow he turns into a player so they can say see! Reyt player!

Sorry lads and lasses you have chose the wrong player to die on a hill for.

Did I mention drugs at all ?

Does my hatred, as you call it, prevent me from giving credit for Friday nights cameo ?

Do you think I’m trying to be funny with my posts on this thread ? Really ??

Think you’re right. Someone does need a word. !

UTB
Yes. You are seeing this right.

70 years of old Father Time up top instead of the crack heads man of choice.

Understand WHY this is so !

Slav……..

Knows 👀.

UTB

Ignore button beyond you ?

Figures !

I guess you also know for sure that he categorically would have done. Don’t you ?

Once again, for all of the back of the kop crackheads.

Slav.

Knoooooooooooows 👀.

This is a good thing btw 😀👍.

UTB

Please.

Im ducking begging you.

Will one of the (few remaining) back of the kop smack heads pick the bones out of “that” performance from our #9 ?

Genuinely interested 😀👍.

UTB

And sit at the back of the Kop with the rest of the crack heads !

Figures :)

UTB

Let’s be reight. It’s sung by a dozen or so of the back of the kop coke heads and that’s abart it 😉.

Just a few examples above of your stereotyping mate.

You did give credit, I acknowledged that straight away. It's extremely out of character, yet you follow it up with unnecessary critiscm. Backhanded compliments aren't really compliments are they.

I don't know what you're trying to achieve in all honesty. You've been on this lads case for a long long time. I used to find it amusing how you could have such an agenda against someone, now I find it genuinely worrying.

People are going to have differing opinions in every walk of life, just because theirs doesn't sit right with you, doesn't automatically mean they're on crack or 'need to go to the back of the kop'.
You handle yourself really poorly.

I thought he was ok ish tonight and nothing more. If he’s to be the ‘target man / big man up front’ he could do worse than learn from Andy Carroll first half.

I don’t think he’s a particularly creative player, I don’t think he’s going to score much more than a few headers or tap ins, he doesn’t really run the channels or worry defenders with pace or trickery.

So if he’s going to be the big man up front he needs to be a bit more robust. Give him credit in both of the last two games he got stuck in but is that really all we want from a forward?

Did well for a few minutes on Friday and did nothing wrong tonight, that's all. He helped, but that constitutes a massive improvement for him.
In my opinion I think he'll define our season. If he stays on the bench we have an excellent chance of making the play-offs. If he starts more than 2-3 games between now and the end of the season, we're fucked because he won't score or create.
Would love to be proved wrong but I've been saying that for two years now. It's not going to happen.

On Friday he showed his willingness to get stuck in and the footballing nous to help us see out the game. Tonight he showed how effective he can be when he drops a bit deeper and helps link play. At times in the last 18 months his touch has deserted him but today it was really good. His understanding with MGW showed a lot of promise.

He's still got a long way to go to make up for 18 months of poor performances, poor fitness, and off the pitch antics. He's definitely going in the right direction though.

Wow.

You need to get out more.

I may have a stalker !!!

^^^^

This.

The apologists are out in force tonight and making a right old racket 😂.

The defending of a £20m CF who has now gone 28 games (apparently) WITHOUT A GOAL and precious little else by way of positive contribution (a couple of assists perhaps) just goes to show what y’all know about what good looks like 👀!

The thread title speaks for itself. McBurnie is eclipsed by Billy's achievements to date.

I dont get why some posters set themselves up for egg on their face, fair enough have opinions, but calling him names and saying he’s crocked or writing him off permanently seems a bit daft.

He can definitely do well at this level, it’s why we bought him, he’s shown a little bit of promise in his cameos recently, involved in the build up i our second too, so writing him off completely and not supporting a Blades player is a bit shit tbh

And of course blindly supporting a player who has underperformed consistently for a long time, which impacts negatively on the club you purport to support is being the bigger blade ?

All on the pretext of what was done at another club 4 years ago !!!!

I’ll have a rethink then 🤪.

I genuinely hope McB DOES step up, as the opening post says.

I doubt there are many, If any actually WANT a player to fail.

He is for me one of the worst value for money players I've ever seen down at the lane - Dean Hammond comes close considering what we allegedly paid him in wages.

Once again with McB - it's not what our divided fan base thinks to him - have some of you taken the time to ask what neutral fans or Scottish fans think of him? Some of you should, I'm still trying to find a genuine football fan who thinks he's anything but rubbish.

Dronnie Blade in making a fool of himself shocker
Pot, kettle. Still backing Mcburnie to come good 2 years plus down the line. Admit you made a bad judgement call. There's no shame in that. No ill feelings towards the lad from me, he's just not very good. Up there with our worst ever bit of business. The lad needs a new club pronto, for the benefit of both parties.

Our manager appears to disagree with you.

He isn’t a ‘big man up front’ type of player. He was never a target man until Wilder decided he was.

Watch the build up to the second goal from last night. McBurnie is involved in four different areas of the pitch, all with the ball on the floor with good passing and moving.

How many times has he started under Hecky's two stints in charge? He's getting 10-15 minutes at the end of some games. With our injury problems up top we'll probably see a bit more of him. But that's the only reason why.

So what is he exactly? Don’t tell me he is a play maker or link up player… I want him to be good, I just can’t see what he brings.,

He’s not had chance to get any starts since Hecky came in, you also don’t change a winning team. He’s been out with Covid and with the effects of Covid. Since coming back he’s been out straight into the squad and since he’s been fit enough to get game time he has done. Jebbison could’ve been on the bench instead last night but wasn’t.

He was exactly that when he played with Barnsley and Swansea. Since he joined us he’s had two full seasons of having the ball smashed up to him.

Watch the video of the highlight thread of our build up play to the second goal. You might just be able to see what he brings.

He hasn't had covid for 2 and a half years. He's not been a regular starter under 3 different managers in that time. Why do you think that is?

He started most of our games in the first Prem season. He started a good few in the second season but missed a lot through injury. It’s easy to just make stuff up…

I'm really willing McBurnie to come good, because with letting Burke & Mousset out & the injuries to Brewster & McGoldrick we really, really need him to step up now.
It's too early to rely on a young Jebbison and with the volume of games an ageing Sharp (despite his heroics).

He's given us some signs of encouragement with his hold & link play. Now I want to see him getting between the posts and looking a goal threat a bit more.

Mcburnie has been injured and so performances have been limited. If he can keep fit (not in terms of laziness in training - mousset and Burke - he will come good this season. Irrespective of what this clown says. I trust the words of a management team than I do over his but he is entitled to his views.
