I'm writing this before the end of the final whistle, but win lose or draw, it's good to hear from the radio that United are getting into scoring positions. Keep doing that and the goals will come.

Very happy about the steady improvement Speed seems to be making in each game.

I think this result will give the management team and players a real confidence boost in what they are doing.

Looking forward to Tuesday!

:)

Just got back. Very one-sided 1-0, could have easily been 3, 4 or 5.

The early signs are good, thats for sure.

very encouraged by this ,dont want to surrender my diehard blades staus but i didnt know we were an early kick off until i flicked on here at ten to three and saw we had won

Great stuff! it must be pleasing for Speed to see the defence playing well. we just need to be more clinical at the other end now!
I can see Tuesday against Scunthorpe being a good match!

Starting to feel more positive about the team and even a bit excited again, which is the first time in a long while.

Bring it on!

A great start by Speed. All credit to him and his players. F'kin brilliant!

I'm absolutely certain tho, that if the club don't address the numbers we have in terms of squad size, we will fall away eventually. Speed says we have 19 players and whilst history tells us 19 player squads have performed well in previous seasons and small squads have gone on to gain promotion, it happens very infrequently.

If the board could back Speed with a couple of quality Speedesque type signings to help the squad and enhance his ideas of how the game should be played, we could go on to have a decentish season.

Now where are those Malaysians?

Difficult to judge from here in Alberta (shameless plug time :)), but the signs seem to be clear for all to see. OK, new manager syndrome and all that but when Sir Keith can't find fault you know things are going well.

Perfect opportunity to take advantage of 2 decent looking home fixtures then, hopefully, we'll back in the thick of it.

truely f**kin excellent and about time too. yes it was only 1-0 against an average side but speeds finally got the lads playing with confidence and it could have easily been 4,5-0. the only slight downside was cheds performance. i didnt see the game but from what i heard he was 5 minutes behind everyone else on the pitch. it will come too him though..... hopefully

He wasn't 5 minutes behind the defenders he dumped on their arses turning them.

He'll be dissapointed not to have scored and yes he doesn't always look like he's sprinting around to get involved in everything, but he worked hard and was unlucky not to score today.

He got a standing ovation as he left the field.

Ched had a good game. The Derby fans we were sat with couldn't believe we had taken him off

well thanks for putting it straight like i mentioned i wasnt at the match and i can only go by what i hear from the radio

Foxy, does he ever look like he's sprinting around?

I haven't been today so can't comment, but if he got a standing ovation then fair play to him.

Unfortunately for me tho, I've given up on the fella. He just doesn't cut the mustard imo.

Like others have said on here, go prove us wrong!

I'm delghted to report an excellent performance and well merited win. Football is coming back to BDTBL. Well done GS.

Britton was the heartbeat and scarcely wasted a ball. Ertl was a rock at his side. A real unsung hero. He stifled Derby throughout, never stopped running but was able to play football as well - a big asset in every way.

The back four - Bartley oozed class - I'm sure he lit up a cigar at one point. Calve is an absolute delight and Katie Price very solid at the other side. Noz was very good too with a minimum of bombscares.

I was delighted, optimistic and proud of my team today. What a pleasure to hear fans
(including Derby's) praising our football rather than battling and scrapping.

Well done to a vociferous Blades support, especially the kids at the back who never stopped from start to finish. There was something to enthuse about today - and we did.

When he plays we all want him to prove us wrong. But it's now time he wasn't played. He can't hit a bulls ass with a banjo and it will seriously effect our prospects this season if we persevere. Let's not let this spoil a great performance and some really positive signs - but when the dust settles it remains important that our strikers can score the odd goal.

Absolutely. It hasn't happened too often in the last decade or so has it? Good stuff.

It sounded as though this was a rare game in which we actually provided him with opportunities to score. OK, he missed them but let's judge him when he's had 5 or 6 games full of chances before we write him off. He's joint top scorer when all said and done :)

Well, what can you expect from a mere twenty thousand english pounds every week.

:)

Rumour has it he was on that last season but nearer half that this season. Not that that excuses him any.

The sad fact is that when you pay out that sort of cash, you expect a player that can make things happen. There's no debate that he's not that player. He's not fast, skillfull or clever. We're left hoping that it's some magic formula that we've not yet solved in terms of his finishing of other people's creativity. I'm clearly unconvinced...:(

Sounds a superb performance today and a continuation of the passing football that started against PNE but with chances added.

The board needs to act and bring Speed one or two players in that will transform the side into Play Off contenders.

With all the chat about Ched and Speed's tactics etc ... I find myself wondering if a certain Mr. B. Sharp over at the Keepmoat is secretly kicking himself that he didn't hang on another couple of weeks. From what I saw against PNE, we need a poacher style striker and it sounds as if a goalscorer today could have given us a 2/3/4-0 win. What a shame that Blackwell was given the pre-season and the first two games.

And Monty? :-)

And Monty? :-)

Did OK LSF, but even doing my best for him [the last thing I want is to turn a good day into a Monty row!] he was behind Britton and Ertl in my ratings!

You'll turn into a Monty lover yet pinchy. :D

What about Elpiton? ;)

I really like Johnny Ertl Pinchy, he impressed me last season when Palace sent the Pigs down, he bossed the midfield in a very unfussy and simple way. He has the knack of being in the right place at the right time and has a physical presence about him. A definite sea change in style since Speed took over and Britton playing at the back of the diamond has been the crucial factor.
If we continue this in the next two home games and the points tot up, confidence, the crucial factor, will be firmly entrenched!

To be honest, I thought he was garbage every time I saw him previously to him signing.

All pre-season and in the league so far I've been very impressed, he's far better mobility wise and technically than I thought.

Just need him to start with the late surges into the box/efforts on goal we saw pre-season now :D
