Thing is he never said that, I was in court that day.

He said potential investors had never heard of us as we were in league one with almost no TV coverage so he was telling potential investors if they bought in it would be not just the team but property assets like Shirecliff which could be sold for houses if ever necessary.

He never said he would do that, he was trying to sell the investment to others.

Several of the big London clubs don't have training facilities in the city, they are way out by the M25. Chelsea and Spurs are just two examples.

Why does a soccer club need to own its training ground anyway, most of the work places / offices I've worked in were not owned by the companies using them.

Didn't Derby sell their ground recently.

Football is football and property is property, stick to what you are good at.

I’m aware I visit many with work and the out of town ones are better than the inner. It’s ones imo bar maybe City but that only because they have have major resources

It’s a fantastic complex they’ve got up there, I used to play there late 80’s early 90’s and the football pitches and cricket square we’re always immaculate. They used to have a full time groundsman living on site - don’t know if that’s still the case.

It was cold in winter though, 5 a side played on the tennis courts was regularly frozen off. Decent bar compensated

I bet. We live 2 mins from there and seem to get exponentially more snow than the rest of sheffield in the winter. Guess they could build a big indoor dome like the Pigs have....

Interesting as this thread is, I'd respectfully suggest people stop identifying spare bits of land behind the lock up garages at the end of their road (including the Dore site).

Topography aside, none are remotely big enough. Those who watched the Netflix car crash Sunderland documentary, will have been impressed by their academy. Built in 2003 at a cost of £13m, it covers 220 acres of which 60 are purely football.

How big is the old airport runway? That’s flat as a witches and not being used. We could have a few pitches on there I would imagine. Wouldn’t like to have a stadium there as it would bugger up the the pre match session of most fellow Blades. I love our ground and it’s surrounding area. Parking may be a chore but if you give yourself a bit of time you can have a nice stroll in via some brilliant pubs and eateries.
