Blades 68% possession 3 shots on target

Bolton 32% possession 10 shots on target

Obvious what we need to work on.

Big positive for their confidence with Coutts and O'Connell scoring though.

Agriculture beats finesse almost every time...and we've never been good at handling the long throw/punt into the box. Bolton very much like Owls c.2012.

I've said it more than once and Ill keep saying it until it's fixed ..... Sharp and Done upfront and possession is turned to goals and wins .

We seem to have ended up with a lot of very average strikers unfortunately. Only Sharp is worth his place at the moment and even he has been hit and miss.

With sharp and Done in the team together didn't we get something like 30 in 10 games ???

I'll take two sacks of shit upfront with a return like that .

Coutts should shoot more often when he gets in to some good space.

Possession really does count for fuck all.
True, shows possession of the ball counts for nothing if it doesn't end up in the opponents net.

Im absolutely under whelmed about going out
CW picked a bonus XI .ie if we won it would have been a bonus
the focus was and is thursday night and as many 3 points from the remaining games

Will I really miss going to old trafford and hanging on for 92 minutes , nah not this season

I think we seemed very much aware that their centre halves would be superior in the air, so were reluctant to cross the ball at times. We tried whipping it a few times, but in general probably hoped we'd be able to counter attack better, pull them out of position with the quick feet of Scougall and Lavery added to the team. Maybe if Scougall had taken his big chance we'd be saying that the plan worked.

I felt we were a bit hesitant at the start. It may have been different if it had been a league game. Maybe we had expected (maybe even hoped?) them to come at us more, but as they struggled to string two passes together, we sort of accepted that we'd have to get on top, while they dropped deeper.

I think it's annoying that a team that looks so ordinary have beaten us twice and are above us in the table. Rock solid centre halves, competitive midfield, set pieces and the quality of Clough is what they are about.

The last few games have been a bit similar, us trying to find a way through an opposition that defends deep. Early last season I thought Coventry were by far the best footballing side in the division. We must make sure we don't make the same mistakes that lead to their downfall.
