I think the thing with mcburnie is its his languid style that makes him disliked by a lot of blades and the chances he has missed some of the criticism is fair some not , the jury is out for me on him at the moment but willing to give him more time ⚔

What does duels won mean?

The last stat is exactly why he shouldn't be starting in my book.

It's not his fault that we're hitting everything long at his head. He can take credit for having the ability to win all these headers, but it can be in no way a criticism of him. Instead it shows how poor we've been creatively and that we've become the side that we've always been painted as and laughed at, physical and long ball.

Blame the midfielders, defenders, Keeper and tactics, but you can't blame the man winning them. When he hasn't played this season, we've still gone long, just haven't won as much.

I'm not blaming him at all, but the fact he's top of that list (by a lot by the way) when he's only started 4 games, is ridiculous. It's a very bad thing for Sheffield United.

But it isn't his involvement that forces us to play that way. He was never seen as a target man prior to signing him, he's always been good in the air, but has always scored more with his feet.
This paints the picture of a team struggling to create anything. I refuse to judge any of our strikers so far this season, they've barely had a decent delivery all season.

His involvement doesn't force us to play that way, but that's what it results in, and it's undoubtedly a reason for struggling to create anything. And not just this season either.

Yeah, I see what you mean, tactically it needs to change. Personally I'd start McGoldrick and Brewster tomorrow, but I really don't get the constant criticism McBurnie gets. I don't think he's been anything like our worst player this season, yet he seems to take the brunt of the criticism. I'm starting to feel sorry for him and Ramsdale, who are getting bugger all from their team mates, but seem to be blamed for the lack of goals and clean sheets.

So when McBurnie plays the rest of the team aim the ball at his turnip and somehow that is McBurnie's fault? Jesus wept.

Those stats are very suspect; goals scored, clean sheets etc straight forward.
Duels won - anybody explain?
Aerial duels won - does that mean getting your head on it, does it mean heading it and there being a productive outcome? What does it mean?

What surprised me today was Football focus saying Newcastle has the worst attacking record of the season so far. I though that was us !

I’d guess that as a ‘duel’ is a fight between 2people, aerial generally is in the air, and won is opposite to lost, that it means how many times he was involved in a challenge to head the ball and he got his noggin on it.
Doesn’t seem too complex as counts go....

So does it have to be productive ie go to one of our players after having been headed.

What's the difference between winning a duel and winning a tackle?

I think Football Focus as probably forgot were in the Division mate 😊

McBurnies problem this season. Lack of real goalscoring service. Same for all our strikers.

Bit of a coincidence that we have been working on our crossing and service to the front lads in recent weeks. Maybe CW is on to something?

He didn't do too badly against Chelsea at the Lane in July when we actually put a decent early cross in for him to attack. He buried that.
