With the 3 new arrivals today what would your starting 11 be against Fulham this sunday?

Personally mine would have to be:

Long
Brayford Maguire Collins Harris
Flynn Doyle (unfortunately) Mcginn Murphy
Baxter
Porter (unfortunately!)

I really think if we can't sign another striker between now and the end of January we need to seriously consider bringing Lyle Taylor back.

If we could bring in a striker that would be alright!

Was Harris's loan completed before noon today ? If not he can't play.

Ok
He can play Sunday as it's a 28-day'er
OK, strange they have different rules for cut off but good for us. If Harris hasn't been playing, he might put him on the bench and start Hill.

@SUFC_tweets - Bob Harris, John Brayford & Stefan Scougall were all completed in time and are eligible to play on Sunday.

You have to reward as much of the team who beat Villa as you can as it is only fair to do so but at the same time we should still look at this game as a game that we want to win. We would all love to be in that hat for the 5th Round no matter how important the league is, therefore we have to look to put out our strongest XI.

I would imagine the only change we'll see to the starting lineup from Villa is Brayford for McMahon. Clough will probably have Harris in mind in the long term but it might be a bit early for him yet, most likely will be on the bench in the place of Kennedy.

HPB I too would like to see us on a cup run. New players, will they integrate?, I hope so but, if this game is a game of getting to know you with the players, I would rather it be Sunday in the cup, than a game where precious points are at stake. If the new guys are football wise, I am sure it will work out.
Not much time to introduce the new boys. I guess if they are any good, they will work things out on the pitch

I would like...
Long
Brayford Harry Collins Harris
Flynn Scougall Doyle Murphy
Baxter
Diego

I'm expecting...
Long
Brayford Harry Collins Hill/Harris
Flynn Doyle Mcginn Murphy
Baxter
Porter
Either way we'e got a chance. I just don't think they'll be up for it.

Maguire to score first tommorow,he fancies himself to score.
Straight from the horses mouth in the bookies yesterday.Likes a flutter does big H.:)

Whilst I wish all our players perform, does anyone actually see anything McGinn does?
It Seems NC does and whilst that is frustrating to me .........
Coady in because he has improved loads since he first came although I would prefer to see Whitehouse given a chance.

MvGinn did well when he first broke into the team properly under Clough, he got into dangerous positions and did his bit playing wider getting the ball into the box and creating goals. Since then though he seems to have boiled down and bit and doesn't look as lively as he was. I can see what Clough sees in him to an extent because he showed himself as able to make things happen and create goals but we can't carry casualties and if he isn't on it then Clough has to do what he is supposedly renowned for and drop him and put someone in who wants it more until McGinn forces his way back in.

Coady at the minute is all round more reliable that McGinn. It seems he has been encouraged to push on and get in more dangerous positions which has paid off with a couple of goals, for me he also does the dirty / thankless work better and gets back to mop it up.

We totally dominated midfield last week ,Mcginn was a major part of that ,he has a little more maturity and composure than Coady. Ok he makes the odd rick and seems to disappear but his positional sense in the middle is really good ,his passing abilty and vision excellent and he works well with Doyle ,he just needs a goal and he will get more confident. We have been dogshit when he hasn't played and his record in a Blade shirt is probably the best at the club.

McGinn is the best central midfielder at the club.

Don't let LSF hear you say that. McGinn's final ball is a bit of disappointment for me. He makes runs and it's not his fault the ball doesn't find it's way to him, however when he does has he actually got any assists or key passes?

From what I can see, Clough is expecting McGinn or whoever plays that position to run past at least Baxter and contribute to the game. He's not doing that at present.

Coady has more goals than McGinn this season. We need goals from the midfield and Captain Doyle should be able to manage him in the right way.

Kevin Macdonald got very few goals or assists ,stats don't tell the whole story. Baxter is a bit of a problem ,in the same way that Quinn was ,both very good players but don't play in a rigid formation ,which is both a good thing and a bad thing for other players. Many teams play with this type of player for short periods but it is difficult when teams suss you out and that player can become a frustration.

Baxter will become less of a problem now that he hopefully has 2 attacking fullbacks freeing up both wingers and central midfielder to move centrally. I expect us to get more fluid as the season goes on. From the way McGinn has been making runs it looks like a Clough tactic to get more goals from that position and I wouldn't expect Baxter to be sacrificed at any point. If McGinn can't do this I would expect Scougall to move in next season.

What you see is what you get with Baxter. He has great vision but just needs better tools to work with.

Can't hear much these days so I'll give him/her benefit of the doubt:rolleyes:

Seriously though, McGinn to me is what Doyle is to you I guess.... I've been disappointed with him from day one, with only his runs into the box being the thing I see positively. All other qualities I look for in the box to box midfielder are lacking imo. I strongly suspect next season's midfield will bear no resemblance to this seasons (how will I cope without Michael, my lovechild!!? ;))

Flynn always leads the assist charts and is continually derided. Plus what Sitwell said about McDonald.

This season's league assists: McGinn leads with 5, Flynn has 2.

Flynn is improving but he's never been high on assists as far as I'm aware (7 league assists last season [not bad] but 4 the season before that)

Porter Baxter

And hopefully Diego will get on off the bench.

Maybe that's where scougall will come in, although Clough says he's for next season

He might only have 2 league assists (3 in all competitions) but he's still second in the chart. We don't score any goals. He got 9 in all competitions last season, again in a side that didn't score many goals when compared to the sides around them. He only got 4 in all competitions the year before, but half the games he featured in were from the bench.

Anyway, none of that is really the point. I was simply backing up the point that stats don't necessarily prove anything. Flynn has widely been written off as rubbish, but has always featured high up in the clubs assists chart.
