I wouldn't worry - look at our starting 11 vs Wolves this time last season -

Moore
O'Connell Stearman Bash
Stevens Fleck Evans Baldock
Holmes
Clarke Wilson

We've since made 6 changes to that team to what we have today. Wilder is continuing to improve the team all the time.

Sharp and McGoldrick will still be here next season, Clarke and Washington will probably go.....Hogan/ Madine could become permanent. We're nowhere near FFP so not sure how anyone can say we'd be screwed, Wilder has made some shrewd signings that are now valuable assets.

Sorry, I am naturally pessimistic, and it's difficult to keep building with only buttons to spend.

The number of rabbits Wilder needs to pull out of hats this summer concerns me. Especially when there's a possibility of losing one or two of our better players as well.

It's going to be difficult whichever division we're in.

When I hear phrases like marquee signings it takes me back to last January which most agreed at the time was successful. I hope the 3 we brought in are all successful but I'm a lot more cautious thsn most.

Now I know you’re on the wind up just seeking attention, you’re not called Brian the Blade are you?

If it makes you feel better we’ll lose Wilder in the Summer and be back down to league 1 next season.
Also pobabky no owner and in serious financial trouble needing to go into admin with crowds down to 10,000.

We aren’t in a position to plan long term due to the issues of ownership.

I don’t see what more we could have done this window tbh.

Summer is going to be an issue If we don’t go up as we will almost certainly have to replace JOC and Fleck.

But we may go up so cross that bridge when it comes to it.

This is my point. Signing young and promising players within our budget would not have taken us up. We're gambling. If it doesn't come off we could well be slightly screwed.
‘Slightly screwed’ in what way?

Lets focus on promotion it’s much more fun.....Wilder is learning with every game,we will have a storming finish to the season
We are top 2 matrerial.

Good job Chris Wilder is in charge and not the OP. otherwise he would be so concerned about next season that he would not be focused on trying for promotion this season, and would then fail due to lack of focus on this season.

What about the season after next if we are established in the Prem. and are aiming for the Champions League.

Much to worry about.

Always good that the internet/media allows everyones opinion to be heard though.

My concern is that as a club we're headed for a fall. This isn't really a criticism of Wilder as our owners aren't giving him any money to play with (in comparison to outgoings and other clubs in the top half of the league), but if we don't go up these are our attacking players for next season:

AM:

Mark Duffy 33/34

Strikers:

Billy Sharp 33/34
Leon Clark 34/35
David McGoldrick 31/32
Conor Washington 27

It's unlikely that we'll have any money but on top of a Goalkeeper we'll need to buy/pay for at least one AMC and at least 2 strikers. That's assuming the others can still compete at this level. That's assuming we don't need to strengthen anywhere else and it's likely we'll need a RWB (Freeman), LWB (Johnson goes), LCB (Bryan not good enough), RCB (Cranie goes) and a CB (Stearman goes) as well.

It feels to me like we're on borrowed time and taking a huge gamble. Up or fucked.
Bet a night out with you is a bundle of fun.

Like a night out with Robbie
Like a greasy chip butty

‘I’m not sure you should be eating one of those, not with your cholesterol. Aren’t you supposed to be eating healthily? It’s just carbs and lard. If you keep in like this you’ll have a heart attack before you’re fifty five’.

I would assume, that Hogan for sure and Madine, possibly, are being signed with more than a view to short term needs. If they contribute to a strong finish to the season, then i can see Madine as Clarkes direct replacement in the summer, and Hogan in the squad as the long term competition/replacement for Billy. Of course, we would not be taking on Hogans reported wages....but knowone is going to pay him that given his recent record...so I could well see another loan next year, until his contract runs out at Villa.

I've been thinking about this and have come to the conclusion that even if Wilder gets fed up of the owners and decides to call it a day at the Lane, which I bloody hope isn't the case, what he's done is reset the club, it's not just on the pitch on a Saturday, it's the entire entity, since he's come in we've got great branding, good social media, good staff and a good reputation as a team playing good football fighting towards the top end, that's something you can carry forward even if the manager changes.

We may lose a couple, but the majority will remain and they'll continue to want to play good attacking football because it's what they're good at, and any decent manager will know that.

Our identity now thanks to Wilder, is a team that's dangerous, tenacious, plays good football, and has spirit. Off the pitch despite the lack of money and the ownership issues, it's clear we are obviously well run considering the gradual improvements we've had to the ground and the playing staff without ever getting in the shit financially (since promotion).

As fans we should be more positive and feel within our rights to have some expectations, not like them lot who expect to win the treble within 3 weeks, but just modest baseline expectations to play and recruit with good football in mind, whoever the manager is.

I think it’s entirely dependent on who the next manager is. It doesn’t take long to fuck a club up.

And I wouldn't mind that as a holding pattern if most of the money was re-invested to bring in 4 or 5 players, but we know he wouldn't even get half to spend.

It really is shit or bust. If we don't go up and Wilder leaves due to the lack of support from above we're only going one way. Without Wilder we're looking anxiously over our shoulders.
Live in the moment Robbie, live in the moment.

Sometimes to acheave you have to take a small gamble that's all it is ,Wilder wouldn't put the clubs future in jeapody,he has said so himself, relax.

True but part of my point is, if we appreciate the identity we have now, it should steer us clear of the truly shite ones. Then again, it's Sheffield United haha
