Speed: Grow some or go

I've only been to one game since he was made manager so I'm in no position to offer my opinion as expert, but I'm unimpressed with Speedo so far. There are for me huge parallels with the Adrian Heath era ( crowds down, apathy up, a sense of failure or resignation at best in the body languages of players on the pitch and fans walking to the ground and no senes of any leadership from the top as owners just look for a way out with their money back ) but this does not mean we should be looking to get rid. The bloke is carrying the full weight of the clubs failures on his own, inexperienced shoulders and if he's getting fuck all help from the people above, needs all the support from us down below. Who with anything approaching a decent cv will come here now anyway?

We are not asking for Arsenal type football - but actually trying to win games rather than being ultra defensive until we go behind would help. And we've been the same in virtually all Speed's games, not just yesterday. Blackwell, & Warnock in the end, were both too defensive and Speed is the same.

Having said that I agree he's inherited a very poor team - but that's due to several years of McCabe selling all our best players and not allowing the manager to replace them with any quality.
So you want us to win games over changing our style, which mean we need to go long.
Blackwell had plenty of money to spend so I don't buy the selling the best players line. He had a massive wage bill throughout his time at our club, far superior to most in our league and failed with it.

Yes because Britton was wonderful yesterday wasn't he? He's made a decent start to his time at the lane and at times in the first half yesterday he was the only man able to make time for himself on the ball and showed some class. His distribution wasn't great yesterday and he was often lost in the midfield.

However if he's the wonderful player that you talk about why would you suggest he rips up his contract? Surely if he's that good then our Property developers have done well to get him in and if we're in such a rapid decline then surely you'd want to keep him!

Exactly Swiss. I saw a decent player being dragged into the utter mediocrity and he needs to get out asap. If we can get a fee in January all the balance sheet supporters will be chuffed and everyone is a winner.

Good stuff Bob - could have written that me sen! Blackwell has wasted millions.

Speed chooses the formation and expects the players he as at is disposal to adapt. They clearly arent doing that. Why not change the formation and set up to try and win a game rather than trying not to lose?
Man Up? Why don't we all have a go at it too while we are at it. Can't remember you women screaming for change before the game yesterday so grab your balls and prepare to fight. Nobody ever said this was going to be easy.

Yesterday was bad, really bad but new signings loan or perm wasn't the problem yesterday, and Speed needs to learn from that. If he wants money for some loan players he will have to drop kick Nosworthy back to Sunderland and spend that 12k more wisely. Hopefully Bartley will be fit enough to start next week.

Speed now has to play prison rules now. Anyone lets him down and they are out of his 11. He needs to find an 11 he can trust quickly. Anyone else who gets into the team after that will need to earn his trust.

Yesterday was down to the players, not Speed, us, loan signings, McCabe or Birch however we can bounce back next week if we all screw our heads on, and I mean all of us.

Grow some

When does it class as being "dragged into"? how do we decide which player passing directly to the opposition is mediocre and which is decent?

Why takes things so literally? You know exactly what I mean I reckon. By most accounts Britton is a decent footballer, a skillful midfielder who can retain possession. I think he looks pretty poor and ineffectiove because of his teammates. What do you think?

By the name on the back of their shirt obviously

Another comedian. What do you think big lad? Is Britton a good player or not? Will we see the best of him when his teammates cannot pass and move?

I think he can be a decent football and a skillful midfielder, but however his teammates are playing, he's prone to giving the ball away worst than some of the "non-footballers".

I don't think he should consider himself above the rest of them unless he's clearly head and shoulders above them, which at the moment, he simply isn't.

I like Britton, I really do. To suggest his entire game is streets ahead of the rest and that he should leave for his own good isn't something I agree with though.

Why thank you! :D

Britton is a good player who had a bad game, it wasn't because of his team mates that he made so many bad passes, he made the passes no one else.
The movement was there.
Similar to my opinion of Yeates yesterday, he had players to pass to but either failed or tried the wrong thing.
The midfield yesterday were all making bad passes.
You could have the best movement in the world from your team mates but if you don't get the pass to them then it means nothing.

Nice comedy touch from Keown on the commentary.
"Britton is their technical player".
Not quite sure what that said about the other 10.

When the commentators call Daniel Bogdanovic 'Dean Bogdanovic' you know how much you can trust them

Don't worry, whatever they called him, they certainly described his 'contribution' accurately.
