God's country ...... Rovrum!
From R.S: Morgs has said that the players have had the scarborough warning from Gary Speed........................pull your socks up or big changes come Jan!

Good in principle, just not sure how he can carry that out? Surely, he can only make big changes (as things currently stand) if he can move on (sell) some of them?

One or two I think may raise some demand and a fee. A number of them tho may be difficult to move on, so perhaps he's just trying to call their bluff? Wake them up?

Thoughts?

Who knows? I think Speedo would be more than willing to blood the youngsters if he feels he's getting nothing out of the first teamers. If they continue to drop points at the rate they are doing then he might as well.

Half of our current squad arent good enough.

Is a "Scarborough warning" different in SY that WY then? A Scarborough warning for me is when the actions are taken ahead of the words.

eg - If I walked up to Walth and gave him a Chinese Burn and then said "stop being a fascist or I'll give you a Chinese Burn"

Yep, different in these parts.

It's giving advance warning of actions to come. So if I went round to Walthy's and said "If you don't stop this right wing nonesense I'm coming to burn your house down" and then waiting a week or so before I send in the petrol.

I'm not sure of it's correct definition and I may have used it out of context

Sadly, you begin to wonder how long Speed's going to last.
How is he going to move players on? Who's going to take them? The only ones teams will be interested in are the ones we want to keep though I'm struggling to think far beyond Ward and possibly Britton and Yeates (at a stretch).

Weren't there half a dozen clubs chasing Monty's services? One being Leeds?

Warnock may fancy a couple of his old boys?

Difficult times

Where's this investment?

True, a fit Monty and Henderson might be wanted by other clubs.
But then neither were part of last Saturday's 'performance' and Henderson hasn't played all season.

Are there any left bah Monty and Morgs?

I suppose if they spend a spell in the reserves, they may pull their socks up. If you aint in the shop window less chance of getting a lucrative deal when their current contracts run out.

Theres a time to be nice and time to kick their arses. Unlike many posters I dont think our current team are crap, but they sure are performing like it. If Speed is saying shape up or you are training with the stiffs till we can loan you to Hereford then he might get the reaction that he's been looking for.

The signing of Andy Reid also turns on a light. Despite all the speculation to the contrary, we WILL bring players in and THERE IS money for the right deal. Maybe a bit of complacency has crept in along with the loss of confidence. Again, its a big red flag to the existing squad to up their game...

There's money to bring one player in for one month Dunc. That may well constitute the right deal for the board but it doesn't mean there is much of substance without more players going out.

What's your source for the information that this is the only signing we'll be making?

If we took him for the season and he picked up a new injury, you'd be the first on here moaning about how stupid it was to sign him for so long, you have previous. Taking a look for a month sounds like a sensible approach to me.

'Taking a look' - with a view to a £2m bid in January? Gi'oer Trigger.

Birchy thought this is going very horribly wrong, we have to get somebody in with a bit of ability. I'm sure that is more likely than us taking a look and if he doesn't work out then so what we'll get another one in. It is desperation time. If he doesn't work out then good chance we're in bottom 3 by time he goes back.

Er, I think you'll find I was more than justified about the Plymouth reject Trig. It was a ridiculous signing which blew up in our face.
I cannot see any comparison with signing a player with pedigree but I think it's unlikely, at this moment in time, we can sign him for longer.
And the fact that de Laet has gone back suggests we've swapped the money going out on him for money going out on Reid.
Science, rocket, not, is it.

No money. No signings. It has been said several times by several posters. I dont recall if you said it so I'll give so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Bringing in a proven left sided/central PL midfielder, and 'our kind of player' may only be small progress is still progress even for a month, It is not going to change the season, by itself, but it does show a certain level of ambition to make a change.

As for January and selling players and making permanent changes, I think this was always on the cards as we dont have enough players who can play the way Speed wants...
