It should be a tenna, 15 seems too pricey after that shower at the last home game

Not a great offer -

1) too expensive
2) your mate can't sit next to you
3) doesn't get other occasional supporters to the match

Another very poor marketing effort following a summer of them.
£15? No chance.
When was the last time we had under 20,000 at the Lane?

I thought it were £15 yer got paid for every mug yer brought along............

alas its the slippery sloap were on ........................

Can't see it being that tight really. I reckon there will be around 22,000 there.

As many as for QPR, when we're bottom of the league?
Can't see it unless Preston bring well over 3,000 which would be unusual even with free buses.

We're only three games in and this is the second home game!!! With Preston probably bringing 2,000 and it being Speed's first home game, I'm going to say 22,500.

Poor buggers. It's going to be like a Timeshare presentation for three hours each way. nPower literature, nPower presentations/adverts on the telly, nPower "representatives" on each bus, turfed out and told to fuck off at Woolley Edge if you haven't signed up....

On number 2), I used this offer yesterday and am sat next to my mate who's a season ticket holder. I accept this isn't the case for everyone, but I was more than happy with the £7 saving. It's offers like these that will make it easier to attend all matches this season for me.

Somewhere along the line United's board has got very detached from reality if it thinks this offer is going to have any significant effect.

Where's the imagination? They're going to have to be a bit more radical to reverse some of the long term damage we are doing to our support base.
Grabbing every penny it can off fans this season could mean fewer fans for years to come.

Once fans kick the habit of going they don't come back quickly - unless we get promoted.

HOw about McCabe publicly holding his hands up to some of his mistakes, a bit of honesty, an passionate rallying cry, a couple of exciting signings (don't have to be ridiculously expensive), some decent football and then re-launching season tickets at the original discount price or even less and taking off the relevant amount for the games that have gone. And making that offer open to everyone even if it means sending a few fans a few quid back (though I'm thinking not many fans would have bought after the deadline).

I'm sure other fans may have better ideas but we really do need to get real about this quickly or the club will shrink for years with all the knock on effects of not being able to attract players etc.

Dear me. A new manager with some fresh hope, coupled with a ticket offer of a reduction of around 25% and Unitedites still need more reason to return to the Lane? Some of us are nearly as poor as the football we've witnessed in the last few seasons.

"Sack Blackwell and I'll start going again"

Blackwell sacked

"I'm still not going unless there are some offers"

Club come up with offer

"It's still not cheap enough"

For a number of reasons, we've lost a number of fans since we were relegated from the Premier League (although we've still got more than before we went up). I think a large percentage of these have no intention of returning until we're back in the top flight and I don't think the club should waste time, effort and money in a doomed attempt to get them back. Keep season ticket prices reasonable (I think they are, just about), keep using the current suite of offers for those who are still inclined to attend but don't quite have the commitment/finances/ability to attend for a season ticket and hopefully we'll average over 20k. After that, it's down to Speed and the team to get people through the gate.

Unfortunately, they set the tone when they set the season ticket prices and cannot offer any more discounts than the usual ones. For example, if they suddenly announced that you could get in to all home games for the rest of the year for £15, you can imagine what the response would be from season ticket holders who will have paid more than that.

Of course this goes back to the cost of ST's in the first place but to be honest, even if they'd reduced them by, say 10%, this season, I don't think it would have made much difference.

Short term, I can only see a promotion run turning the tide again.

All is not doom and gloom just purchased 2 tickets at £15 for my non season ticket holding friends

NPower are absolute scum! I've never known any league sponser take such advantage of it before. I dont ever remember being asked if I prefered Coke to Pepsi before or remember seeing Coke stands in the ground or on away coaches offering discount Coke

Suspect it'll be them forking out for the coaches as some sort of test marketting caper. If they can get 5% of the convoy to switch to them they may be encouraged to roll this out further. Be interesting to see if someone pitching up in a British Gas polo shirt(though God knows why)is still allowed on.

sounds about as inviting as the free night in the hotel before any home match as long as you buy a breakfast each costing however much! i rather sleep rough on devonshire green and go bankers draught for a full english!

Yeah, £15.95 each for a night in a 4 star hotel is an utter disgrace.

Sack the board

The club are mearly taking advantage of the fans loyalty! its got "money spin" written all over it and ill even say that as a firm backer of mccabe and the board! they are filling up the empty rooms as loss leaders in hope you spend however much in the hotel bar fri night/sat morning, i know plenty who have toyed with the idea of going and doing it "just for a look, because its uniteds hotel" and thats the market they have targetted!

Of course they're loss leaders. Of course it's a marketing ploy.

But.... ummmm.... so what?

What are you suggesting?
a) an entirely free room (still a loss leader, still a marketing ploy)
b) no offer at all.

I'm struggling to see what the club has done with any of this.

Cheap tickets and a ridiculously cheap hotel room with breakfast (which it in effect is). And still people complain? I'm stumped.
