Like what?

They’ve got multi year sponsorship and TV deals that make them one of the wealthiest teams outside of the premier league. They are also something like the 80th highest watched sports team in america.

They’re spending it because they’ve got it rolling in from multiple revenue streams they’ve tied down for the next few years

It doesn’t just unravel for them if they miss out on promotion this seaon.

They’ll sack Parkinson pretty soon anyway and attract a really big name manger who’ll get them up at doe point.

As much as it would be glorious to watch it all unravel I don’t see it.
Don't they get something like £1-2m for every episode of that documentary they make as well?

Depends how you define success for a club like Wrexham really I guess.

If the don’t get promoted to the premier league, the money will probably dry up within 3-5 seasons when the tv show and sponsorship dries up. but they’ll be left with state of the art stadium renovations and training facilities built around being a future premier league club.

They’ll have a squad worth a fortune based on their current spending trends which they’ll be able to sell off if required.

They’ll have gone from the conference to flirting with the premier league and having all their facilities re-built from top to bottom.

You could argue that it’s already been a humongous success and something from their wildest dreams already and they probably won’t just disappear back to the conference due to all the investment they’ve received already.
Yeah great points

Wrexham are actually an example of the PSR rules having a really positive effect.

Instead of pumping cash into players and wages, the rules force owners to do it the right way and spend the money on infrastructure and building the club up to be able to make its own money.

Then, if the owners disappear tomorrow, the fans of Wrexham are still left with loads of first-rate infrastructure, academy, stadium etc.

Whereas in the past the investment would just disappear on fees and wages and if the owner stopped pumping money in one day, the club would collapse under its unsustainable costs.

Although pumping money into infrastructure, can also lead to clubs collapsing with unsustainable costs. Reading got a brand new ground and state of the art training facilities, leaving them in a financial mess once they dropped down the leagues. Similar for clubs like Darlington , Wigan, MK Dons and many more.

Just like big wages and long contracts, costly infrastructure can become a dead weight if clubs get relegated. Fan enthusiasm is hard to sustain, easy on the way up. You build momentum, increase in crowds, revenue , better facilities, better players. Then on the way down you have a Leicester, with world class facilities and players on 90k a week in L1 you go bust.

Infrastructure comes at a cost, like salaries and can become unsustainable. Wigan and MK Dons nice grounds left as a legacy. 25 and 30k, yet only ever get a quarter full. Jack walker left a nice looking Ewodod Park, similar to our capacity and average 14-15k.

Look at the clubs that have ended up in L1 in the last 20 years. Is an 18k capacity enough for the Racecourse in the premier league ? Almost certainly not. Few good seasons in Prem, expand to 25-30k. Slide to L1 and with 5-6k again, becomes a millstone round their necks .

The bigger problem they have is if they don’t go up to the Premier League soon - that their American owners & investors & sponsors get bored of waiting for their project to be complete. 100% Parkinson will be gone by Xmas unless they are in the top 2.
I think our owners got bored a while back!!!!

Wonder why he’s getting games, his value must be going down with each appearance and it’s not doing the club’s results any favours.

Pleased that he is going to rectum as they can afford to carry an unfortunate mistake, whereas we can’t. Great player in the championship I think but not one that we can afford to take a risk on given our precarious financial position.

Apparently they can hang on a bit longer regarding player sales, it seems. 🤷‍♂️
Until January???? Can’t sell anyone after 1st Sept. Weird if they are trying to sell the club? 100% another pts deduction incoming for breach of SCR- but I don’t think they care as they probably think they can still get promoted with -6pts. Or their batshit owners don’t care as they are selling up.

Leicester have shown no interest in a swap deal at all during the whole summer.

I’m surprised they will consider someone Wrexham want to offload to shorten the amount of cash they receive.

Anything to get him off the wage books I suppose.

Screams of desperation from Leicester though, which will give any potential buyer the upper hand in getting him on the cheap.

Wrexham have blinked. Does that mean Wilder may get his man by playing the extremely long game?

Or will West Ham find themselves scrambling for centre backs last minute and move for him?

The plot thickens.

I see Saints are going to lose Harewood-Bellis to Villa for 30m. It’ll be interesting to see who they go for. Souttar would have to be on their list though if they were interested in Anel, I wouldn’t say these two were the same type.

Funny thing is, if suddenly Leicester were open to a swap deal now, McGuinness would be a perfect swap, on probably lower wages, but the problem is their manager; everyone else would acknowledge McGuinness would be outstanding at that level, league one is a street fight at times but the one in charge insists on playing only Marquis of Queensbury rules!

I think the Souttar deal will go till the last minute, Wilder is desperate to get him so he can appease the fans and ease the pressure whilst missing out on other signing, Webster, Worrall. Etc

I think spending 5/6 million on someone with creativity would got further to appeasing the fans imo.

I like souttar obviously - but we’d be better off spending on someone to fashion chances for us, especially if we’re selling o’hare

I have a feeling this will happen.

No actual basis for feeling that, I just can see it being the sort of thing we get over the line- completely ignoring the outrageous lack of attacking creativity at the club.

I’d like that too but at the moment I think we would be trying to win each match 0-0 (yes that would be a win at the moment) which leans towards defensive signings if any but I hope I’m wrong as this is going to be one turgid, disappointing and probably nerve racking season now. But we’ve got loads of time yet for our well thought out transfer policy to come good 🤣)
