Player Suggestion Souttar played and scored last night

Young strikers tend to have to leave us in order to develop. And our fans are hardly patient with young players. There’s generally a clamour for them to be elevated to the first team if they stand out in the U21s followed very quickly by abuse if they then show the inconsistency and naivety of a very young player still learning their trade. I well remember not very bright people on here writing off Calvert-Lewin and Osula after a handful of games for us. I also see the current revisionism about Brooks and the absolute shite being spouted about Arblaster at the moment by some.
Agree, but I will add that on Saturday, at least on the coverage I was watching, when Onē came on, and picked up the ball, there was a notable rise in the noise from the crowd, in stark contrast to the rumbling and grumbling that greeted Cannon when he misscontrolled or failed to make a yard for himself. Fans want young academy products to do well. I think our fan base, by and large are proud of, and want our own to do well for us.

One put some proper effort on but also took up good positions and didn’t lose the ball with a weak attempt at hanging leg out.

Concerned about his hammy. That could be a 6 week job 🙁

It wreaks of Leicester playing us, it wreaks of us trying to get it over the line for the least money, it wreaks of him definitely being our priority no. 1. Not sure it’s ineptitude more it’s not as easy as you think to do a deal when goal posts keep shifting.
Leicester know we’ve done no other scouting or research into other options, despite their financial desperation they somehow still have leverage over us because we’re so unbelievably unprofessional when it comes to recruitment.

Any other club would have said “thanks but no thanks” and gone onto the next CB on fhe list.

Nonsense
It’s obvious why he was the no 1 target, given the success of his previous loan. What more scouting for that would you need?

The player want the move to United.

Leicester don’t need to do any research to understand they are in the shot and are trying to maximise what they get from their fire sale. They’ve already sold a few and now they want to squeeze every penny they can (who can blame them in their position)

Phillips and Alleyne may have been options but they have already been taken. But the fact still remains that Souttar is still the no 1 target and what’s wrong with that. Aus international, a leader, definitely captain material, colossus if fit, done well with us before.

The logic is irrefutable.

They will have identified other options but while you’re chasing your preferred option how far do you take the other transaction / negotiation?

I bet the rumours of the Anel interest are either that plan B or have been designed to put pressure on Leicester to do a deal.

Exactly right 👍

The one saving grace of this rumbling on is that Souttar is fit (had a pre-season klaxon) and would know his team mates if he signed for us.

Doesn't change the fact that we're looking at spending far too much money on him when there are other areas of the pitch that need investment too.

I suspect we are the only ones seriously in for him so I’m sticking with my earlier plan.

If I were king of BDTBL I’d go buy Anel tomorrow for £5 million then offer £3 million for Souttarman in the last hour of the transfer window.

👍

Why would you have cash specifically assigned for one position but not another?

Wilder said to replace Hamer permanently with a good enough player is too expensive. Said we'll look at a high profile loan replacement and spend the budget permanently elsewhere

Which is why he should not have been sold. he was worth more to us than the cash.

Leicester also showed the way. You don't have to bend over to the selling club. Gus could have played Saturday and still been sold later whilst we looked for someone to come in.

A few years ago they pulled some right stunts to avoid administration. A lot of small creditors lost money. Just saying

Leicester know sweet FA

I’m not here to defend the owners or wilder but this narrative that we only have 3 players on a list and haven’t looked at anyone else is proper tin foil hat stuff from some of our fan base

Of course we will have other options, it’s probably likely that they are loan options and because the parent clubs dictate when they leave we can’t do much else with plan B and C

If you want to complain about how we shouldn’t have ended up in this situation and how if we can only afford one perm signing then we should look elsewhere then fine, fill your boots, think you would have a legit fair argument there

Leicester city’s owners are completely delusional. In many ways the same as chansiri, financially illiterate. The Leicester tactic is to try and start a bidding war, by creating “rumours” that others are interested and willing to pay a ridiculous premium, meanwhile pushing him into the shop window playing games at a high risk.

They will end up like Wednesday if not worse, a reluctance to sell when your in desperate need of funds, and haemorrhaging money left right and centre. In reality there in no position to be negotiating anything, they need to drop their ego, and swallow some pride or they won’t have a club soon enough.

If they insist on silly money, walk away, sit back and let them rot. The players will down tools soon enough hopefully Souttar, and no it’s not because they don’t have a good character it’s because they’re being held hostage and purposely starved of their career progression.

In fairness we did similar with Shea Charles when Leicester were moving goal posts with Choudhury (I think). Putting a loan bid in.

We publicly said we’d go for Charles to focus the minds of Leicester. Not sure how effective it was but we did the deal eventually.

I suspect Leicester trying to push the Souttar deal up and eventually we’ll either get him for the price we want or he’ll end up elsewhere and Leicester will be happy, having dragged the deal out but pissing a few of the parties off. I guess football isn’t always a nice business, if it ever is

I don't know. Whatever their financial position, they are doing a better negotiating job than us.
Or are being very foolish? Being in administration isnt nice and it takes years before the club is back challenging for a place in the top division.

Yeah my thoughts too, someone will either cough up funds or this gets dragged into the 11th hour transfer window deadline day, I reckon we submit a final offer a few days before the deadline acknowledging that medical and contract negotiations will take time so either take it now or leave it. Hopefully by that point we’ll have signed a defender on loan to take a bit of pressure off.

Revolution i think they’re being complete fools. Blinded by historical successes, and possibly thinking they’re Billy big bollox still. It’s like a watching a past it boxer enter the ring, trying to be aggressive because of an ego rather than box clever, in the later rounds they’ll get their shit rocked, hard.

Ultimately there’s an acceptable way to fight, but don’t take the piss, you’re not what you used to be, and you’re not even in a fit enough state to play games anymore.

souttar took a knock towards end of game looked like he hurts his hip or ribs i couldn't quite tell anyone know if he's injured now or was jus a bruising?

I'll say it again.

They are only doing what we could have done with Hamer.
