I’m starting to think we’ll actually get him.

I didn’t particularly want to see us spend big on him due to past injuries but I think wilders interview today probably suggests it’s been closer than people realise. Sounded like a plea to the board for a couple extra million to get it over the line and got a feeling they’ll let him have his first choice.

If he stayed fit it would be a massive boost and a big help to Tanganga. Could be like having two new signings

Not necessarily on signing Souttar. But it certainly hinges on United signing a couple of out and out brick shithouse type centre halves who know the art of defending, and being competent at heading, kicking, and organising. With a fully fit Coops and a strong defence again we will suddenly become a very decent Championship team again.

But yes, Souttar would be a very welcome signing, and many were calling for United to sign someone like him for donkeys, before we finally signed 'a proper' old fashioned centre half. And hey presto...look at the difference it made.

Burrows being told that he needs to try and stop a cross coming in, also wouldn't hurt.

I thought the opposite. To mention him by name and state that we have pursued a deal with Leicester and talks are ongoing, I would assume he is at least partially confident we will get this done.

Add to that the fact that he said we are shipping Zatterstrom out on loan and he has told McGuiness that he's not part of the plans, that would suggest to me that he's making room for the signing.

Not sure he would call McGuiness out (especially considering he is our biggest CB in terms of height) early without at least having an incoming somewhat further along in the recruitment process.

All the comments about bringing in a player who would improve Tanganga etc. very much mimics what we've all been saying about bringing Souttar in and indicates he is Wilder's number 1 target.

If we don't get him now, Wilder will be back in for him in 3/4 years when he's on a free and crocked again.

Hahaha I only missed out Hecky and Wilders other stints. Hecky had Wilders team and the best player in the division..
