Southampton ready to give huge hammer transfer blow,he's not even our player, Morgan -gibbs White.Stupid journalism.

Don't see what the problem is.
Even if we were in the Premier League we wouldn't be getting him.

One of the "giants" of the game, Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton or Palace would be getting him if Wolves can't find a spot for him

IMHO, I would imagine Wolves will try and fit him in,you're absolutely right, never in a million years would we get someone like him.

IMHO Wolves will get an irresistible offer for Neves and the player will want to leave.

Giving Gibbs-White a go would seem a sensible solution.

As we know all too well a local player playing at his best is worth far more to the team as well as the fans personally I think they must be mad to sell him for how much they’d get and how much to the club he’s as a person is worth.

Playing for us has done his career a world of good as well.Lets hope t'Hecky says:Look, this is the kind of player we need as well as a few more if we have promotion ambitions.

Best we can hope for is that Wolves keep him under false promises - Give him minutes in pre season but then nothing when the season starts and then come 31st August he’s banging down their door to be let out on loan again at the last minute….

We've already had him. On loan, I grant you ,but he wasn't free. However, he has done well and we can't afford to buy him at present. All 4 clubs you disparage currently have more money than United. What do you suggest to finance buying him? How about £3000 season tickets? I can raise that money and I guess so can thousands of others. I am not willing to pay it though. Probably a bit like the board. Taking on debt to gamble is always easier, when it's not your money.

The lad was always gonna be playing in the PL next season , whether that was with Wolves , us or whoever. Our only chance of landing him was promotion .
He was also part of Coopers England U17 side sadly it wouldn’t surprise me if they move in for him to now they’re up

Which is why I said "Even as a Premier League club we wouldn't get him"

You can offer sensible replies for the rest of eternity, but unless we pay good wages for footballers the club will never improve.

Not every good signing means financial ruin

Southampton would be a good fit for MGW. He'd play regularly rather than bench warm. Good luck to him, he's earned a shot at playing in the top flight and I'd be disappointed for him if he ended up loan in the Championship again.

This season has shown what a difference good loan signings can make. In the case of Forest it earned them promotion with Davis, Lowe, Zinkernagel, Garner and Spence all important players.

In our case, we should have done better. MGW - outstanding
Olsen, Davies, Goode, Uremovic, Hourihane - average to poor between them

Most of ours were okay at best or signed as back up, and they strengthened the squad instead of the team. Arguably once again loyalty to players instead of ruthlessness proved to be fatal in the end, despite coming close.

Great post.

Find it weird how most fans have zero awareness of the cold harsh reality of finances.

Clubs in the PL receive 120 million per season from Sky.
Clubs in the Championship receive about 7 million per season from Sky.

So the bulk of PL clubs can easily afford to pay £20K a week even to squad players like MGW who hardly play.
Where as in the EFL there are (rightly) Profit and Sustainability rules which our club MUST adhere to.
If every club chased the dream of PL football and gambled, loads would be in massive debt, loads would go into admin with some going bust.

It's a bit like floating around in circles amongst millionaires who drive Ferraris.
You live on the Manor and think "if they drive a Ferrari then why can't I have a Ferrari"
So you acquire a bank loan for £100K and you're in heaven, you're so happy.
The problem is the massive burden of paying back the £100K plus interest.
You then resent the car and wish you'd never bought the thing, what a disaster.

Agree with most of that, but doubt loyalty had anything to do with it.

We weren't going to spend to transform the squad under Slav, and we weren't prepared to improve it under Hecky. Given the choice, I imagine most managers would buy better.
