Have the Tory's cut our forces budget back so much that they can't actually police us?

Yes they have, I suspect what you're seeing is the very early stages of the formation of a more cost effective 'National Police Service' with no borders and fewer senior officers.

Similarly, as I was walking down Bramall Lane an exasperated man was asking a somewhat baffled-looking policeman what he though of it all; he didn't even get a reply.

I'm assuming the lack of information given was just plain ignorance.

I can't believe that any copper on duty has no idea which pubs are open or closed.

Surely our finest would not sent the guys on the ground out to do their jobs without them having a fucking clue about what is happening on the patch they are working on.

They have learnt from Hillsborough haven't they?

So, in the future, if you want to know the time, or directions to somewhere in sheffield ask a ..................................copper from Ieicester.

Here's your answer:

Who's picking up the bill for shipping in Northumberland and Leicestershire cops?

Having seen their vehicles no doubt some other constabularies will have been making a killing on the back of the Sheffield rate payer.

I was told it was a human rights breach to keep fans locked in and the club now has to release them as soon as the fan wants to leave the ground, looking at it, you could say its imprisonment to hold against thier will.....

So, i get why the barriers go up when we have big away followings at the lane.

It is embarrasing though

Good observations GRUMPY BLADE. I think that a lot of what's supposed to be a community remit has gone straight out of the window so far as the modern copper is concerned. It's almost as if they function on a few limited ideas of policing, and in doing so they don't learn some of the basics that their colleagues of 50-60 years ago used without a thought.

Surly seems a good description of some coppers. Not all I should add, but it's as if there's a disconnection between what their job is meant to be and those they're meant to take care of. I think the word that's missing in modern policing is common-sense. They often behave according to a script, with no room for any type of social spontaneity, let alone interaction with the public. Maybe being pleasant would result in a reduction in their hourly rate. Can't have that can we?

Here's your answer:

Reight lads, as you lot are from Northumberland and Leicestershire we assume you have no idea about the territory you're working today so to help you:

These are the known possible flash points
These are the local pubs and these will be open/closed [as applicable]
Traffic flows will be etc.
Fans will be moving down these streets

etc etc

Oh by the way should any local engage with you just tell them to get fucked.

For me; I thought the increased police presence today only increased anger within the fans that walked past them. Many of us were stating this as we walked past, the intimidation factor isn't taken into account by SYP when throwing ridiculous amounts of resource at games such as this which to be honest even with how Wolves behaved on the pitch was still always a friendly atmosphere. One thing which SYP could change (and isn't rocket science), why have the entrances/exits wide open onto Bramall lane after the final whistle? Keep them behind as it was an early kick off anyway and most of the extra police wouldn't be required!

Very annoyed by this yesterday.

Why do people always suggest keeping away fans behind as a solution to the problems? It's wrong, it's illegal and it causes more problems than it solves.

Never bothered me too much before at away grounds and if a solution to spending thousands on police presence then I'm all for it. How would it cause more problems than letting out at the same time as already antagonised (by police) home supporters?

Complete fucking joke. The amount of police yesterday was just ridiculous. Absolutely no need whatsoever for them to have those steel walls up.
