I'm all in favour of improving the ground. I enjoy going now much more than the old days as the facilities are much better than in the past. The 44,000 seats may one day be appreciated - when tickets for the big matches are hard to get. I for one would also love World Cup football at the lane. The Euros really did bring sheffield to life - imagine a world cup :)

for me, complete and utter waste of a huge chunk of money, unless we are an established premiership club.

I've just had to watch a left back playing right wing, and our full back being replaced by Ryan France. Clearly they don't know I'm available. Where on earth the finances are coming from, god only knows.

A slightly smaller queue for an overpriced pie at a kiosk coupled with 10,000 more empty seats behind me wont improve my match day experience. The loss of £20M probably will.

I'll settle for watching Peru V Japan on the TV, I think I'll cope...:(

Yeah but just think watching Peru v Japan live in person with a tastey peters pie available at your nearest kiosk.

Whats the point ?

The plan is to emulate Middlesbrough and host World Cup matches whilst a third tier club.

Everything's okay though. Jason Rockett says the focus remains firmly on the team...

I wouldnt read too much into this, yes the plans have been given the go ahead, but planning approval is only a stage in the process, and once granted is open for 5 years.

Therefore i doubt that this will be moving ahead anytime in the next couple of years. Lets see when the decision is made for the 2018 world cup, and more importantly the decision on the host cities.

I think that its a good idea in principle, and i know ill get shot down for that, but with oppertunities that this could hold business wise for the club with increased income it cant be a bad thing. Not to mention the cost of construction at the minute, whatever this has been earmarked as its guranteed to cost about 20-30% less.

my concern IS the 2018 world cup. What If England, then Sheffield and BDTBL get it? Are we going to build as planned? What if we're averageing 15,000 a the time?

"but with oppertunities that this could hold business wise for the club with increased income"

That's another issue. What extra income? Little doubt there are some benefits, but then there's a £20M loan to service.

I can only see this being viable (and so could the club, but it seems to have gone quiet on it) if we are "an established premiership club". Is this still the plan, and if so, how do we become so before we're committed to the world cup bid?

Don't think we'll need any spare capacity in division 1.;)
