Soumare, he makes me happy

Funny how he was a promising player before joining us and doing well after he left us but not rated here.
The truth is though, from what we saw of him last year he was not worth the buyout clause and we had to turn him down. If we had agreed a deal of about 2-3 million then it would have been worth the risk/investment. Stoke have probably paid at the top end of his worth after last year with us
Funny is one word you could use .....

How much do you think the signing on/loan/agent fees have been for the likes of Phillips, Reidewald, Ayew etc… have been?

Free & loans aren’t free.
True but there would be agent fees, etc on top of the transfer fee paid for Soumare. Some of the previous loans will have been very expensive (Rak Sakyi, McAtee, MGW, etc). In the post-parachute world, I doubt this years loans will involve anything like that sort of outlay. We’re led to believe that Phillips is the deal of the century where we’re just picking up a small percentage of his wages.

I think we might need a scan to make sure they haven't put implants in his legs. He always looked good, until his feet didn't do what his brain told them to! GLTTL

We've only seen this a little bit - in the second half when either his focus or his fitness seem to desert him and he's made a couple of silly mistakes to give the ball away. Otherwise he's been an important part of a radical improvement in our midfield, and hopefully him and Galbraith can continue to gel. He's looked very capable on the ball, assured in his touch and technique.. I'm aware this will probably come back to bite me on Saturday but certainly against Watford on Saturday we appeared to have a cohesive, dynamic midfield for the first time in literally years.

I'm long enough in the tooth to know it's early days and could well all go downhill but he looks a super signing with loads of potential so far.

There is no point trying to rewrite history. I don’t recall too many people clambering to sign him at the end of last season. Whilst he has potential, he cost Stoke over £3m and unfortunately we simply don’t seem to have the funds to make these kind of signing at the moment..
We don’t sign players with potential,we give them away. I would bet a couple of our loan players will be £20k a week,a million a year each ! Maybe the owners will not give him money as he has a big habit of pissing up the wall.

He had assets that could have made him into a very good midfielder - first touch, nice turn of pace, could turn an opposition player and run past them, liked to get stuck in. But he just didn’t show enough of it when he got his chances here.

For the fee we would have had to pay with the option, he absolutely wasn’t worth it. Even the £3 million Stoke paid was a bit of a risk. Happy to see he’s doing well though - I liked the boy.
