Substitute Ebanks for EEL & it scans a bit better then.....just sayin'

I don't really understand the criticism here. With a minor adjustments for "EEL" replacing "you" in the song, and "after" replacing "the very", it scans fine. It's a nice link to a popular song from a successful season. And given what constitutes a decent United chant in the past (e.g. the utter shit De Girolamo song), it's at the higher end.

Though for that matter I'd rather sing the De Girolamo song for 90 minutes than join in with the brainless "he'll shag who he wants" chant, which continues to have an embarrassing number of fans continuing to chant it.

Well it was "last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but this year I give it to Ebanks-Landell" or something to that effect. So just put Carter-Vickers in instead and it's all good. No need to bring transfer history in to it too.

I'm sorry, I don't get the EEL thing. He's gone. In a few years he will be long forgotten. If you are going to use the song then the original fourth line has an echo to make it scan and come back on beat. It's crucial man.
